Now that thats out of the way. Do you guys still do resolutions?

I find the best thing is to start doing whatever it is you what to do that day. This whole I'll start on the 1st or on Monday always has the chance of being pushed back more, eg. I'm tired today will start next week.

Considering I dont even like new years, I dont do the resolution thing at all. I do what I want and when I want and currently am always working towards my goals

I did relatively well last year in achieving my goals but fell short overall. I did however create some good habits and it's a good foundation for this year.

This year I've set some big goals!

1. First is that I have to work harder on my personal project. To do that I have registered with stickK. I have to work at least 5 productive hours on the project per week. Then write a short report on it and send it through to my referee, Wyvern. If other people would like to join me on there then you are welcome. I can add people as supporters who can follow my progress. And if people are following my progress then it makes me want to fail even less.

The goal with this project is to add to my income and maybe if it does really well it will lead to me working on it full time.

2. https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/862850-The-2017-Weightloss-Thread
I participated in the weightloss thread last year and lost a couple of kilograms but I did all the work during the first 6 months, lost a lot of kilograms and then picked them back up during the rest of the year. This year I want to do it better and make it through the whole year.

3. I'm going to stop watching rugby. It took a lot of my time last year. Especially since I do sport betting and I made quite a bit. I realised however that it's not worth watching the full games. Highlights are enough to keep up to date. Highlights and stats and I'm sorted.

4. I want to play more games! I'm trying to set aside an hour a day at least.

5. I want to read more. This year, every evening before I go to sleep I want to read some fiction.

It's quite a bit but that's the things I will be concentrating on this year. There's more but it's smaller stuff. :)

I love new years resolution, and I loved this article on The Conversation about why we struggle to keep resolutions. It's a really good read with some interesting insight.

Last year was a bad year, with stress catching up with me, me retreating into my comfort zone as a defense, and ultimately having a negative impact on my life. So, as the year begins, and with it comes new challenges and opportunities, my resolution is to be open to try new things. This year my overarching strategic message is New Beginnings. And I know, this probably sounds super pretensions or something, but that's just what works with me. This year I am moving back to Gauteng, going to different countries for work, being placed in a new position, and it all feels very new and exciting. My goal is to keep this momentum and ensure I try new things, be open to new things, and create a new beginning.

Ah dammit. I started the thread and then didn't post what I wanted to. (Got distracted reading other pages.)

1. Exercise regularly, I already started doing this after Christmas (part of my start when you make the decision) I wanted to do 100 pushups a day but have since scaled that down to 50 a day until I develop a bit. Also I've gotten back into running.

2. Take cold showers, don't look at me funny guys, its supposed to be healthy, I watched a TEDx talk about it. Started this on the 28th of December. So far so good. You psyche yourself to get under the cold water and then boom, it's not that bad.

3. I'd like to finish another game or two this year. Thanks for the MyGaming Challenge Solitude it help me finally finish some games.

4. I'd still like to learn to program. But that is very general. I did learn some basics of Python last year. I think the biggest thing I've learnt is that I learn by doing. I was doing a django tutorial but it was basically just copying/doing what the instructor was doing. So I'll have to find some project of my own to work on.

I tend not make new year's resolutions, that way I don't get disappointed when I don't meet or achieve them.

lol, that nr 2 made me laugh. But on a serious note, just incase you are interested, I am currently (One of my own resolutions) busy learning C# from Microsoft Virtual Academy. Its all for free and from a complete novice, the C# training so far is very well done.

Mine, not that I normally do this, but I seriously have to do something, weird, getting married and having a family makes you think in another direction.

Major one, stop putting off, I am a master at avoiding and procrastinating.

1: Study, for one, learning to code, I've been wanting to learn to code since forever.

2: Get out and do more stuff with my family.

3: Loose weight, I've been slowly getting softer and rounder....cant do what I did years ago. Will help with nr 2, infact, they should help each other.

4: Start doing my own little projects, I've been collecting bits of electronic stuff for years now. Want to do something robotic with raspberry pie or similar.

5: Complete a game now and then.

6: Get more into game dev.

My main issue is that I want to do so much, but then do nothing, hardly even start, just stays in the brain. That must stop.
