I've always heard about but never played Civ 5. Is it worth getting into at this stage? and does it take a while to get into?

Civ 5 is ALWAYS worth getting into, at any time of your life. I still have a spare unclaimed key in my Humble library...

Its turn based so depends on what you like. Its certainly the best of the Civ games to get atm. Doesn't take long to get into it but the games tend to be very long...like days long.

You can set up games to be short enough to manage within a couple of hours...
Edit: Can I change one of my games to rather be Rocksmith?

That is some good fun right there..can get frustrating at times, but generally fun!

Nverwinter Nights 1 (Like it more than 2) - Loads of modules, ability to create your own - You can play this forever.
Operation Flashpoint (GOTY or Dragon Rising - doesn't matter) - Loads of mods, ability to create your own - You can play this forever.
Rocksmith - Will have loads of time to finally get good at it and be able to rock a few tunes. - This might just take me forever!
