32" LCD for gaming

Anyone using a 32" TV as PC monitor and for gaming?

I am looking at the Samsung LA32D550. Currently I have 2 x 24" monitors and keen to consolidate the space into 1 big monitor. I find 2 monitors a bit of a pain.

It is not ideal. They are not made for gaming in mind. You will find their resolution low and some other problems.

It's not bad if you are sitting >1m away... but that's actually a huge distance.

The main thing is you lose detail and the screens are not made with the right colouring etc. On this note, The bigger the monitor without using IPS,etc means that you have more and more colour distortion from perpendicular.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been told the quality is the same as any 22 / 24 inch monitor. And with regards to the colors guys on Mybb were raving about the accuracy on this TV in particular. Shrug.

Size is a slight concern, but viewing distance will be just over a meter I reckon.

Colors and all jazz I'm not clued up on but personally, I sit about 80cm from my 27" and I still get eye strain after a while. But that's just me.

Well contrary to these guys lol no offense guys , I went from 2 X 20" to a Samsung 32 "
At first you may not think it ideal for gaming , but overall its awesome , my only advice is that you use a Digital input and that you set your resolution at 1840x1040 this makes text readable and gaming awesome from a distance of bout 1/2 meter or less initially is was somewhat strange , but I love FPS and for me its been a smooth experience. Plus bonus is watching Full HD movies in 32" from the PC of course Im sure you'll take a step or 2 back for that.
I say go for it just make sure its Full HD and not HD ready

Thanks Venom, have heard a few other guys giving it the thumbs up for gaming and general PC use.

Apparently there are a few tweaks that make it perfect.

Depending on the distance you sit, it will probably work, I've not used my LA46D550 for PC, but it does wonders on the PS3 and Xbox 360, you will probably need to tweak it a bit to get the colours right, and yes it actually does have a very poor viewing angle, but so do most monitors unless you have a more expensive one without a TN panel.

I think it may depend on the games you intend playing. I use a 32" Samsung LCD 1080 for gaming with. It works well with most games, but kinda fails with fps games like Call of Duty.

Thats my experience.

I forgot to tell you , use the Nvidia control thing to set a custom res , to 1840x1040 this will scale 1920 down and all of a sudden you will see everything just jumps out , kinda like the 27 " you had and the FOV feels natural again

The way to test would be to look at them side by side.

I have seen a lot of monitors, and seeing a 32 TV next to a 30 Monitor I didn't like the TV at all. But also at that size a 30inch monitor is 1600 vertical compared to TVs @ 1080

Another plus for TVs is that you get more inches out of the same GPU. Running a 30inch Monitor is hard on graphics cards and performance.
