The Strati only has 49 parts, compared with 25,000 in an average car.

The key is simplification. On average, a car contains thousands of parts; the Strati contains just 49. This seems incredible, but as Rogers explains: “If you can make a vehicle out of one material, you can massively reduce the number of parts.”

Certain components, such as the engine, tires, and suspension, cannot be printed, but the majority of the car, from the chassis to the seats, was created using a carbon-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic, which Rogers says has the same strength as midgrade aluminum.

Dam this would be awesome to build your own car. It does not have great looks but in the end does it matter you have a car.

"Certain components, such as the engine, tires, and suspension, cannot be printed". So basically the chassis got printed? hardly "most" of the car if engine not included :P

Still a cool feat though, don't get me wrong...

Yeah there is still a long way to go this thing would probably not be able to stand up to a crash without killing the passengers. Also they could 3dprint the wheels but it would be the solid ones and won't be as confortable as air filled tires.

No! This isn't The Flintstones! =P

But yeah, kinda cool. I guess the idea would be to make it electric rather.

ja you can even get self assembly ones for R5500 and you need software. i wonder how much trouble i would get from the fiance for spending that much on a "nice-to-have"....
