4 year-old kills father after he didn't get a PlayStation

The child had asked his father to buy him a PlayStation. The father returned home empty-handed and then put down his pistol while taking off his shirt. The little boy grabbed the gun, played with it and put his little finger in the trigger, accidentally shooting his father in the head. The man died instantly.

First Question... why the fuck do you let your four year old play with a loaded, unsaftied, gun?
From the sound of it, it seems more like the boy was playing and accidental shot his father rather than plotting and shooting his father due to lack of playstation.
I guess another case of the media going to town on a story which is only lightly linked to gaming.

I'm guessing he used Call of Duty to train? :D

But ... yeah ... way to put a "games and stuff like that make you evil" spin on things. Talk about crappy reporting.

[EDIT] Also, murder? They really think a 4-year-old is capable of thinking through and rationalising a decision like that? Involuntary manslaughter at best ... and even that wouldn't stick because the dumbass put a loaded weapon down where a kid could get at it.

Keep in mind where it happened. The East, especially heavy Muslim Countries like Saudi Arabia, are still very against what they see as the West Corrupting their children via Music, Film and Video games so every chance to give these forms of Media a bad public image, especially among its more ignorant inhabitants is grasped with both hands.

Also true. But then, I'd like to see some slightly less biased reporting on our side rather than a simple copy-paste from somewhere that's going to make Krakatoa out of a molehill.

More sensational heading ensures more hits which = more $$$. Capatalism FTW

It's odd that the 1st association made is murder with motive (lack of PlayStation)... But as Omega points out, it's all about getting more hits rather than giving an objective view of the truth

Spin Dude, its all about the Spin. Most stories can be spun to reflect the news agency's "views" which I why I love the internet. That bit I posted I got on my first google. You can normally test it by going onto Sky, BBC, CNN, FOX and reading the same new item, often the tone of the article will differer wildly, sometimes even the "facts" are different.

Kinda makes you wonder how blurred the line between fact and fiction is, doesn't it?

Just saw this posted on Facebook.

So many questions to be asked regarding this matter.

It's quite sad actually.

He's mentally not all there is he? (The sociopathic kid).

I'm not sure that's the label I'd use for him...

EDIT: considering that this was likely an accident with the fault most likely on the father's part...

Couldn't think of any other word, any more applicable word. And sociopathic definitely isn't it. But, having said that, It's clear he's got some mental agendas/issues he needs worked out.

I understand he's very young, so I cannot hold anything against the kid, but if he's able to think for himself how to handle a gun, and killed someone using it, one can't be too sympathetic toward this kid. Unless he was taught how to use a gun at that early stage in his life. Still, bottom line, he needs help.

Did you read the link I posted? The dad put the gun on the bed, the kid played with the gun and it went off. Focus is only on the child because someone heard he was pissed about the playstation. The question you should be asking is why was the gun loaded and didn't have the safety on. If your going to blame anybody blame the parents, firstly for leaving the loaded gun around the child, secondly for not teaching the child that his father's gun isn't a toy and thirdly for not teaching the child never to aim a gun, even a toy, at other people.

Of course he's going to need help, he fucking shot his father by accident, imagine the mental trauma that accompanies something like that. But idiotic new articles such as the one posted on mygaming is making it sound as if it was pre-medicated, a fact that is practically impossible for toddler who just recently learnt to not shit its pants.

Also I dont know how many 4 year old you know but most of them cant think for themselves.
