5 consoles the world could have done without (Column)

The Saturn wasn't actually that bad, it even sold quite well until the juggernaut known as the Playstation came along. The Saturn did really well in it's home country though spawning lots of dating games.
Sigh this is what happens when you spend a Sunday at work :-D, lots of youtube videos and wiki-ing on consoles.

the saturn wasnt a bad console IMO. Technically it was more powerful than the ps1 but it was alot harder to program for. One of the worst consoles without a doubt is the atari jaguar it had one of the worst controllers ever made in history (even beats the original duke xbox control)

I tried the Virtualboy at a computer fair in the mid 90's it made me sick.
Also the Saturn was difficult to program for due to it's dual processors.

I had the Nokia Ngage and I really liked it. It had the best games available for a phone at that time and when playing a game it was really comfortable to hold.
However when making/receiving a call it was kinda shitty coz you had to hold it so that the phone looked like you had a retarded ear sticking out but it was overall a nice gaming phone back then

Luckily I never purchased anyone of those consoles. I was thinking of the N-gage then changed my mind :D

Im with Duke on this one, only began with the PS1 but i remember the hype around the Ngage in school:wtf: thought it was ridiculous then and still do...

I've only been gaming since the PS1 :o...

I started on the Atari HQ1000 Cartridge System, i believe my game of choice back then was TANK... Still love that game... lol. Some of that consoles i have heard of but seriously others i havent. When the PS1 came out that was my entry into serious gaming...

Suprisingly I fixed and played with a Sega Saturn, if i recall it was a CD and cartridge based system its downfall was it wasnt available globally otherwise it would have done well, it suffered a similar fate to that of the Nintendo N64 console which was technically superior to the PS1..

I agree with that list, except for the Ngage. Yes, having to use the phone like a banana was a bit awkward, but it was a still a great gaming device. Heck, I still have mine. They should have put the Atari Jaguar in the list instead.

I started in 1998 when the first black & white gameboy came out I think

The original Gameboy came out in 1989 I so wanted one as it was advertised on TV all over the place, my first gaming was on a Commodore 64, then a PC which was an XT, then a pirate NES, a Gensis and PC, PC right up till 2000 when the PS2 was released, I just had to have one after seeing the so called real time rendering of MGS2, was disappointed by the first gen games as they were barely a step up from PS1 graphics.

Sega Saturn was not a bad console, I had one and really enjoyed it. It was superior to the PS having built in memory for saves etc, pity it never sold well. IIRC it was the last console that Sega released until they announced they would be focusing on software only?

Dreamcast was their last console and it was the best console during the prev gen even if it was discontinued prematurely, I played my dreamcast way more than my ps2 and i still have my dc (a bit deteriorating) :)

first console was a nes clone back in 1990/91 1st cartridges I had was a 7 in1 and a reggies 32 in 1
^THIS!!!
Is what I had hehe... think I started when I was about 4 or so... :D

Then the PS1 came out but never had the priviledge to have one(ok I had one for a day or two but then it got sold again :/ alternatively my cuzzies had one). Then got my first PC in 2000 if I'm correct... a pentuim 2 baby thats where it started for me :D
NFS2SE and RA2 :D
