5 reasons console gaming>PC gaming

Damn it, I knew I should've mentioned that Xbox patches are only 5-10 MB. :<

Also, let's be honest here - there's a lot of groaning in the BF:BC2 thread about being unable to get a place on the local servers. The game's hugely popular, and there simply aren't enough servers.

Also, I double dog dare you to try playing it on Xbox LIVE, and tell me it doesn't feel like a <100 ms local connection.

But seriously, I was really annoyed when I installed Heavy Rain, only to be greeted with a 200MB update.

You're actually right though, console games are awesome like that, but it seems to be changing, or maybe its more a PS3 thing.

Yeah, there are huge patches on PS3. Microsoft, however, has very strict policies about patch sizes (presumably because of limited HDD/MU space), so Xbox patches never exceed 10 MB. Microsoft also charges a patch penalty (I've heard it's around $20k), so there's a lot of incentive for devs to get shit right the first time around.

Thats only if u have ur PS3 hooked up to the net. I didn't and still played through it. Where as on PC i often have issues playing the game if its not updated.

I popped in my Halo 2 the other day and the update took less than 2min.

This also means Xbox games have to be in pretty good condition on release not of this "We'll release a patch to fix it in a week or so" mentality that plagues especially the PC games.

I have never struggled to get a slot on BC2 - except for the week after release. Simply put, there are 25 servers, on SAIX and iGame alone, with a combined slot total around 800. I know the game is popular, but I've _never_ seen 800 slots full. If you want to play a particular game mode, then sure, you'll probably end up waiting a while, but that's frankly no different to any other really popular game soon after release.

Awesome article. :D It's true, PS3 patches can be huge, but you don't necessarily have to install them. You can just cancel the update, but then then you won't be able to play online. There are many games that I have played that wanted to do huge updates, but I just canceled them and played the game offline. It's still better than some PC games (STEAM) that won't allow you to play the game if you don't download the latest update, even if it is a singleplayer only game.*

*This is what I have heard, I don't know for sure because I refuse to buy STEAM games. I have one (Saint's Row 2), but I never installed it, just got the PS3 version instead.

But alot of live games are like that. I think ive only once ever had lag issues on a Xbox Live MP match.

Yeah, I know more servers have been added since launch. But hey, that didn't suit the context of my article, so...stfu.

:D

Now also with PC's you can modify your case without loosing the warranty of the components inside it.

Xbox you mod anything u screwed :p

loved the article just one point that wrong. MW2 i waited lots of time to get a game where the few time i played cod4 i find my game a lot faster. thus a dedicated server is better even when you are a casual player. As the big level difference wont cause you to wait for hours to get a game on a dedicated server.
