5 silly gadgets you don’t need

I can see a use for one of those items. The gloves.

Have you ever tried using a smartphone at 5am in the morning outside in the winter? You have to take one of your gloves off and watch your fingers turn blue as you use the phone. The gloves mentioned here is such a good idea! :)

I find capacitive screens work through material.

Capacitive screens only work with conductive materials. If you find that your smartphone screen works with your gloves then
a) Your gloves are conductive. (Like the ones mentioned in the article)
b) Your gloves are too thin.

I just used my phone through a t-shirt, some denim jeans, and a towel (about the thickness of gloves). All of them work perfectly.
 
The LED display is truly useless. The way I drive I only need one message (two words) and luckily there are a number of hand signs for it.
The message is, off course, "thank you".
 
i dont see my self using a glove to just use a phone out side.

Maybe some people might want to use it others wont.

I don't believe you. I tried mine through my work shirt and it didn't work.

A capacitive touchscreen panel consists of an insulator such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor such as indium tin oxide (ITO).[19][20] As the human body is also an electrical conductor, touching the surface of the screen results in a distortion of the screen's electrostatic field, measurable as a change in capacitance. Different technologies may be used to determine the location of the touch. The location is then sent to the controller for processing.

Unlike a resistive touchscreen, one cannot use a capacitive touchscreen through most types of electrically insulating material, such as gloves. This disadvantage especially affects usability in consumer electronics, such as touch tablet PCs and capacitive smartphones in cold weather. It can be overcome with a special capacitive stylus, or a special-application glove with an embroidered patch of conductive thread passing through it and contacting the user's fingertip.

Either your touch screen is not a capacitive one or you and your clothes and towel are just flowing with electricity. :)

Maybe I'm super electrically charged... My touchscreen is definitely capacitive.

I actually just went and found some nice wooly gloves. Touchscreen still works.

I'm surprised. It's not supposed to work like that. We will have to send you in for testing. :p
 
I agree, those are the lamest gadgets i would ever spend a penny for except for the gloves only in winter but all in all unnecessary, ;)
 
The LED light sign could work if you were able to fully customize it with messages like "thank you for not indicating" , "get of your phone and pay attention", "learn to drive" etc.

Yea I cant set it to scroll some profanity and show a meme or two :-/ It totally sucks.

Yeah would be in the "Gadgets you REALLY need section" if it could do the above.
