7 RPGs worth getting excited about

Q: Why isn't Deus Ex Human Revolution in there as well?

Well i guess if they put Deus Ex 3 on there, they will have to put Mass Effect 3 on there too.

Oh and what about Dungeon Siege 3 and The Witcher 2 ?

Since GW2 and SW:TOR most likely won't be coming out this year and TERA is debatable , i would definitely put Dungeon Siege 3 on there instead!
 
really hope SWOR turns out to be awesome, not convinced just yet.

Deus Ex is out in August while ME3 has been pushed back to 2012... Plus ME3 is sounding more and more like a shooter dressed up as a rpg where as DX is actually trying to be a shooting rpg.

Yea, but half that list is 2012 games. Guild Wars 2 is definitely not coming out this year. EA already said there's a good chance SW:TOR will be delayed until Jan 2012. Diablo 3 , i won't be surprised if that's a 2012 release too.

Anyway, as for Mass Effect being less RPG vs. Deus Ex , both are shooters. I wouldn't really argue which is "more RPG" , since it's debatable and doesn't really matter, they both have RPG elements but emphasis are on story+shooter action . I do think [and hope] the story of Deux Ex 3 might be more complex than what Bioware is going to come up with (Bioware's story telling rep has been dwindling imho) .

In fact Deus Ex is most likely going to play alot like a Splinter Cell game [the earlier Splinter Cells] with an open world and a story that allows you to make choices.

Looks to me they could've rounded it off to 10 with those three. Ten is a much more rounded number than 7 :D
 
Risen 2 - Dark Waters.
Come on, thats pirates etc. Its looking really awesome. It should be there especially seeing as though it should be coming at end of 2011

No, I was the South African out of a dominated European/American forum. anyways yeah, can't think of any big titles.
Isn't Grim Dawn coming in 2011?
 
I always find myself wondering what to include in these articles. I would love to include some lesser known titles largely because most people already know ALL about the big titles. Buuuuut then people would complain that I did not include those. Personally, I could add well over 10, but space is the issue. I am generally working with a limit, as well as keeping things digestible, so I pick and choose. Something always does not make the cut.

Games like Dues Ex HR, Mass Effect 3, Dungeon Siege 3 are all on my personal list (as well as Xenoblade, The Last Story, Disgaea 4, and some DS titles). I wish I could add them all!

Anyways, it is looking like a good year for RPGs, so we all win! ;)
