I got my contract in July and the first debit order on 1 October. Although it is an awesome package the billing admin seems to be a bit of a problem. But I had my suspicions before I signed up so I am not complaining. Just saying....

Feedback from PE

I went in to get the R50 suggested, but they told me I would have to spend the R149. So I decided to go for the contract. The coverage map said I JUST had cover (poor people across the road), and they told me I could cancel the contract if I was not covered.

I am very happy so far. I Lost signal for about 5seconds last night, but got it back. It always shows that I have HSDPA coverage (with the old cell c sim I couldnt even get 3G, only Edge).

So - all good so far :) I dont know what to do with all my data now :)
 
One more nugget of info. if you have a vodacom 3G dongle there's no need to buy a 8ta dongle. The 8ta staff will recommend a 8ta dongle saying vodacom modems are locked but this not true. just download the 8ta software and once you plug in the vodacom dongle and the 8ta software will pick up the sim and connect. if i knew this before i could of saved myself 700 bucks.
 
Does anyone know which modems you can use with an 8ta SIM? I want this deal, but want to use my old Vodacom modem from my previous contract. Will this work? Is there a specific list of modems that will work?
 
I believe any modem will work. I am using the sim in my galaxy tablet, and connecting my PC, and Wii via wifi through the tablet. All works beautifully and quickly.

Also considering going this route. Seeing as telkom is a bunch of incompetent .......! 3 weeks and they still haven't fixed the congestion in our area.
 
all vodacom 3G dongle modems should work with 8ta sim. (using the 8ta software not the vodacom software)

im in PE, tested 8ta sim card using cell c dongle and cellc software. worked great. hspa+ for the 55mins it was connected. dropped to 3g for a few seconds then back up to hspa+. played halo with open nat and no lag and black ops connected perfectly and no lag. ill be gettin this sooon.
 
after some more extensive testing over the weekend i found that 8ta not good for the Crysis games on PC. gets super high pings. other than that most other games work. i think xbox live is your best bet here
 
Using the 8ta sim in another modem will work but i don't think USSD works? so that might be a problem to check your balances.

It's simple enough to do that with your given username (mail address) on their website though.
