A look at gaming mouses - separating the features from the fluff

Braided cabling?

Granted, it probably is useful ... but what the hell kind of force does a person need to apply to his mouse in order to rip the cable? 0.o

Comfort and on the fly DPI changing for is the most important.

Polling and DPI is all a load of kak.

Braiding is nice, but really not a necessity.

Sepperating

lol :D

/runs

I must be honest...I cringed as well when I read that. :o

As far as wireless gaming peripherals go ... I would limit it to headphones. I've not had good experiences with budget wireless kb/mouse setups :/

I've been looking for a wireless gaming mouse for a while. any suggestions?

I will never again buy a wireless mouse. Unless it has a way to charge remotely, hell no. Buying batteries was the biggest schlep in the land! Not to mention, in the long run your spending way too much money on that mouse as you would have wanted to.

Well I bought myself the Roccat Kova, I am very suprised to see no mention of the Kone there though.
Anyways I am very happy with my mouse, but mind you I am a bit of a slut for flashing lights with my computer accessories. My sub has a colour changing light

Ms sidewinder X8 i have one for about 3 years now and think getting a spare on for when it fails(a friends fail recently and we bought at same time)

I would say stay away from wireless.

Had simular fears originally but the tech has moved on nicely to the point where latency isn't a problem anymore.

RAT9 has two rechargeble batteries. Swap the used one for a fresh one on the fly. Battery charges faster than I can use it and it charges directly off of the USB so no extra AC adapters are required.

Ok, well that sounds much, MUCH better. It was SUCH a las buying batteries the whole time and then having to swap them takes a while, while you're getting shot in the face :P

Hypothetically, If I had to get a new mouse, I'd go for the RAT 9 or 7 (depending on my cash at the time when i'd have to get a new mouse). But I'm still very happy with my MX518 :)

Btw, I too get light headed and disturbed every time I read "sepperating". Could a mod PLEASE change it... "separating" (I think its spelt like that :\ now my brain is fried... I no longer know wrighte from rong!)

I still play with a standard mouse and find it ample enough for my games. What do you guys use all those extra functions for?

Simple reason why I want one is because my ms oem mouse running now for god knows how long is at it's end. I've declare it's time for a decent gaming mouse hence getting the rat7.

working some of the actions my left hand has to cover over to my mouse would be nice imho.

I use the extra buttons as shortcuts for programmes i frequently uses on my PC. i have to agree with the writer of the article though...you do get used to your mouse after a while so its just a case of how picky you really are or how unique you want to be.
