Having never played the original Crysis way back when it drove PC gamers into upgrade-hell, I jumped at the opportunity to pick up the recently-released PS3 “port†on PSN.
I played Crysis 2 and enjoyed it, so I looked forward to seeing where all the nano-suit madness originated from. Plus, judging by what I heard from those that have played it on the pc, it was something to behold.
PSN Download Size: 3.7 GB
Price: R199
At present I have spent about 2 hours with Crysis, although, in “play the game†time it’s probably about 30 minutes. I just cant help messing around in open spaces….lol…
Ok, so those that caught the open space reference above and do not know: The first Crysis is part-sandbox, part linear. Open sandbox areas beg for exploration and on the island setting cloaking and stalking enemies is a lotta fun through lush trees and rocky hills. I do enjoy the island setting of the game, making it nice and colourful with white beaches and blue waters, reminding very much of Far Cry.
I have read some other online reviews that the graphics have been toned down to compensate for console processing etc but I really cannot see it. The title looks awesome and just as good as most FPS’s out there today. Stellar actually. Sure, there’s some popup going on but it’s not like you’re really gonna spend the game checking out trees pop up in the far distance, right?
Controls, sound, everything basically is 100%. No problems there. Happiness all around.
Just one issue possibly: With BF3 set for release this month, they maybe should’ve opted to unleash Crysis at a later time. Budgets are tight people…
But, from what I've seen so far, well worth it...
Anyway, that’s it.
