Not a fan (see what I did there, eh?). Fractal Design Define R4 for me, thanks.

Also, are all the parts custom, using that modular design? If so, that'll cost a fortune.

It's definitely interesting. I still think we're at least 5 - 10 years away from it becoming a commercial possibility, but we'll see...

Now imagine this combined with steamOS for a steam box in the living room. You have a console that you can build to suit your needs but also simplified to be easy for any living room user to plug and play upgrades.
I think that combo would own the living room gamer market.

I also like the modular mineral cooling nodes, you can sell your 2nd hand hardware without handing over a greasy GPU. Plus it's the most effective way to cool a pc so it's all good IMO.

My issue is that razer is expensive and I see this being priced like an Alienware PC, therefore I doubt you could sell your modules 2nd hand. That I think it may be hard to justify the price for your getting, a 760 module priced like a titan.

Still I will follow this and see where it goes because I think as a concept it is brilliant.
 
Razer pricing, modular design, limited partners for PCB production could equate to a massive price.

Imagine the cost of a gpu unit vs. a gpu. I will rather stick to conventional methods for now.

Then again with the new APU from AMD and Nvidia's 800 series taking less load off of the CPU this could be going somewhere.

Are there any oil cooled commercial PC systems available aside from this? Last I heard its such a disaster in terms of practicality that only the most hardcore modders dare try...

Also...the image is labelled "PSU Water cooling" so the oil cooling isn't quite as certain.

The freedom to buy any brand of box and stick any brand of components in there seems a lot more customizable to me...

If intel pushed something like this then I could maybe see it happening despite the abundance of uhm challenges, but Razer...not so much. The one product I bought from them (Naga mouse) was defective from day one (the famous scroll wheel issue) - only reason I didn't return it is that this would involve me interacting with Esquire again...which is most definitely not happening. edit...scroll wheel aside I like the mouse.

Saw this launch at CES, Colour me curious coz i think its awesome! For people that dont know how to build a rig this would be ideal... I think the biggest problem will be getting the "blades" (for lack of a better word) with the components you want... and the price involved...

No, you buy a PSU, liquid cooler and control panel. The rest from cpu to the cd drives are all separate purchases that you then click in. Imagine it as buying a car chassis only, you still need to get an engine, wheels, transmission, seats etc and it all bolts in as you buy it.

...mineral oil cooled, parts bought are put into the custom chassis design. This is completely different to the Thermaltake Level 10 case (Which is super expensive if I remember correctly)

1st that's a chassis not the modular motherboard chassis combo here.

2nd that's air cooled not mineral oil cooled

3rd the modules with the thermaltake are brackets and Razor's are individual enclosed hardware pieces.

That case is far from being related to Razor's project

But you can bet that this Razer case will cost a tonne also, due to the fact that release price is high and it has to be shipped here.
