Acer Aspire One Happy Netbook Advice

I'm thinking of buying the Acer Aspire One Happy Netbook (http://www.incredible.co.za/ProductDescription.aspx?SKU=75242) and wanted to know if anyone had any opinions of it. The reason for buying the netbook is just for programming, skyping and other general use. I would install ubuntu on it and just have the win7 starter OS there. It seems to be quite cheap and so also kinda feels cheapish but i don't think i'll mind as that's not really a big issue (i think). The main reason for this specific netbook is the price.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Go to makro. I bought this LAPTOP from them for R3499

http://www.makro.co.za/p/47086/samsung-15-6--laptop/

The website says R3999 but I bought it from them for R3499....I love this laptop and it is very cheap compared to most available. They also had another one. This one is R2999

http://www.makro.co.za/p/40495/samsung-15--laptop/

Both these laptops are faster have bigger screens, more ram, larger hard drive and come with a DVD writer also I get about 4 - 5 hours out of the battery. On the top one I actually managed to run a couple of games (GEARS OF WAR PC ACTUALLY RAN) but not very fast and wouldn't recommend games.

Hope this helps

I have been playing around with Netbooks for quite some time and have tested the Acer, Samsung, Proline, Asus and MSI incarnations of these handy little pc's

The best performer to date has been the MSI Wind U135
Stock it only comes with 1 GB of RAM but the upgrade procedure is SO simple that I upped it to 2GB by simply buying a spare stick of 200 Pin 667 DDR 2 and unscrewing a few screws.

It runs well using Windows 7 as well as Ubuntu 10.10 (Full Version not the Netbook Release)
I even use it or some basic GFX Editing from time to time if I am away from the office. They Retail for around R3499
Battery Performance is pretty good, even with multiple applications running I can still get around 6-8 hours out of it, but that is dependent on how you use it and if you have followed the correct priming procedure for the battery itself.

Dont know if you already purchased your laptop but the Samsung laptop I recommended at the top is awesome. I was just checking gaming performance and I was amazed how this intergrated intel HD actually performs. In games that use the UNREAL ENGINE it runs awesome. I played gears of war and sometimes the framerate drops to about 15fps but stays above 25fps mainly with some jumps to 60fps.

I was running this at 800x600 with minimal graphic adjustments because gears of war doesn't really have the options. Unreal tournament 3 runs awesome actually. Still get some frame dips but I was testing with graphics at the highest setting at 1024x768. Been able to play FEAR, BIOSHOCK, DIRT 2, Half-life 2 and both mass effect games. Also able to play Doom 3 and quake 4 but this suffers more because OPENGL support is not that good yet on the intel graphics.

This is a awesome laptop for only R3499. Best buy I have seen in years.
