Just trying to get an idea if there are any of you out there.

I have looked at some of my friends on PSN and Lonthor (Deceptor) has quite a few platinum trophies. Now is this something you aim for when playing games and how do you go about it?

I for one couldn't really be bothered, but there is the odd title(s) (TLoU) I am trying to get platinum.

If you are one of these types of people, please let me know your methods. Do you play the game through once to enjoy the game, or do you use walk-throughs to assist in getting the shiny trophy/achievement.

I don't care about achievements, unless I can get paid for them. :D

I'll try to do a few if they look like a fun challenge, but most of the time I really don't care.

In fact I barely even finish most of my games. "whistling:

I get them as they come, only look for them in games where you need them to get through a stage/ level... aka Anna

Don't care at all. I play till I'm bored of a game and move on.

Edit.

Who has the time? Plus it just seems like a frustrating endeavor

This is my take on it. And hence why I started this thread. Curious how and why people go for them.
Shit, my game completion ratio on PSN alone is like 11.4%

I'm also not very good at finishing games. Think the last one I finished was d3 (finished means finished the story) and tomb raider on the pc.

i like having my rare achievements :D some of my games (ones i really enjoy) i try get 100% achievement completion. some of the games include:

TES:Oblivion (Without DLC) + Skyrim
Battlefield 3
Kingdoms of Amalur (Without DLC)
Far Cry 4
COD4
Assassins creed 1+2+3
COD:MW3 (Without DLC)
Hitman: Absolution
Dishonoured (Without DLC)
Battlefield 4 (Now busy with DLC's :p)

I used to be a big Plat whore back in the day, but then it started to ruin gaming for me. I was buying games to Plat instead of Platting games I bought. I used to buy a game and look through the trophy list first and aim for most of them on my first run then mop up with a guide, but I've enjoyed gaming a lot more now that I don't Plat hunt period.

If I absolutely adore a game then I will go for Plat, but the last was The Last of Us and I just couldn't finish the grind for the last MP trophy :/. I did get InFamous Second Son's Plat by mistake though, it just popped while playing.

I will only try to Plat a game if I enjoy it very much. Working on TLOU plat, one trophy away from getting it (Hunter online journey). At least the MP is fun so it doesn't feel like a grind.

I have plenty of 0% games on my play list. Games that I just could not get into. Think my completion rate is a mere 13.29% or so if I look on one of those PS stat thingies.

Easiest plat was The Walking Dead.
Longest plat was Ni No Kuni.
First next-gen plat was Second Son.
Most frustrating was Enslaved. Damn glitching orbs.

I appreciate achievements purely for the fact that they encourage furthet exploration in games. Many times you miss out on something awesome in a game, but achievements highlight those.

I used to be an achievement whore when the 360 was launched back then, but it doesn't bother me as much anymore. I do prefer games with Steam achievements to those without though...

Most memorable for me: Little Rocket Man.

Like I said before I will only go for all the trophies if I really enjoy a game. Even those games have some ridiculous trophies which I can't be bothered to get.

I never buy a game based on what trophies it has.

As long as there is some kind of a reward which would be fun/useful in game, I'd go for it.

Chests and side missions in AC : Yes, monetary reward - can upgrade weapons / ship / armour
Animus Fragments etc : Couldn't be bothered

That being said, I do like the feeling of having finished something to 100%. But it does get tedious, and start to feel like work.

GTA V I would like to get 100% in, because I immensely enjoy all (or most) aspects of the game. Thinking of replaying the campaign again.

So...you basically enjoy 76% of your games? "whistling: :wtf: :D
