Video game publishers talk and think a lot. They talk and think about things that you and I, lowly consumers, could never hope to understand. They talk and think about things that we can only dream about. For Activision, among the things talked and thought about is the potential for Call of Duty remasters, according to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, speaking to Game Informer.
"If done well, I think [remasters] can be great," Hirshberg said. "You talk about nostalgia, and people have such connection to the games they love from the last cycle. They want to see what it would look like if someone did it right for this cycle.
"It's always the opportunity cost," he continued. "Meaning we need everybody we can get to make the content we're already committed to for our new games. It's always a matter of finding great people to do that work. I would love to play Modern Warfare 1 or the original Black Ops. There's certainly a deep well there. No announcements, but it's something we talk about and think about a lot."
So there you have it, Activision talks about and thinks about Call of Duty remasters. It's no solid confirmation that it'll ever happen, but the hope that Modern Warfare or Black Ops could be revamped can be safely kept alive.

i don't mean to flame the COD series but now instead of bringing out extremely similar games every year they want to actually bring out the same games... talk about running out of creative ideas

Try, but imagine the original world war 2 call of dutys remastered and sent out to the masses, those games would sell like crazy.

I actually wouldn't mind a COD1/2 remake.

I judge my WW2 shooters by the *ching* sound the M1-garand makes.

There is only so much "future" or "current" war games that COD can be about. The whole theme is getting stale now after so many years of so many games. I think it will be epic to remaster the original CoD in a new current graphics engine. Just imagine the amazingness of Omaha beach landing. I think it's high time they revisited the WW2 era again, find their roots and build anew.

Stop releasing a "new" CoD every year, could be a start.

i actually enjoyed advanced warfare, i think it was extremely well executed.

Never cared about treyarch and their blops titles, the last one i finished that treyarch made was world at war, got halfway with blops on the wii and i stopped, blops 2 i didnt really care about.

I was going to get AW for PC, but I have many other MP FPS that I can play already. Not a BF fanbooi :3

Agreed, I'd pre-order that game in a heartbeat. Wait, did I just say I would pre-order a CoD game???

We're all gamers here, no one is going to hold it against you. I must say however: I prefer to not have last year's present gift wrapped again. ;)
