Addicted to sound: What do you have?

I am an audio freak! I love sound, loud sound, crisp and clear sound, and just any type of thing that can reproduce sound. Another thread about car sound inspired me in starting this thread, so I would like to hear who shares in my addiction. I understand my stuff aint the best you can get, but I always do proper investigation before I make my choice.

Mah stuff in no particular order::

PC Sound:

Cambridge Soundworks 4.1

I have had these for years, something like 8 years I think, and they are still insanely awesome. Don't use them too often, as I very seldomly play PC games due to my old PC. When I do play games, I often also use...

Headphones:
small_technics-rp-dj-1200.jpg

Technics RP-DJ1210

Bought these for DJ'ing while in the UK, and they are EXCELLENT. Noise-cancelling can remove a 100k+ watt sound system so you only hear what is playing through the phones... I love these...

Car Sound:
Kenwood KDC 2052T Head unit.
Old, but still working perfectly.
Kenwood 320Watt 7x10s 4 way 4 speaker
Kenwood 110W 4 inch 2 way Speakers
Starsound 1600W 4 channel (Similar to image)
Kenwood 12" Tornado Sub
I also have shit tweeters, but they do make a difference. My front speakers and tweeters are all run off the head unit, and teh 4 channel amp is 2 channels for 7x10s, and the other 2 both to the sub.

Jamo C1 Center
Jamo Rear speakers (They have been mounted since this photo was taken)

So, my name is TBlaar and I am a sound addict.... What's your name?

Guys, no offence, but all that stuff is pretty entry-level. Except maybe the home theater stuff. (I don't know those particular models). I know because I'm also poor and have the same sort of cheap equipment.

Serious, audiophile-grade equipment is insanely expensive, even more so in SA. I was actually just thinking of starting a thread asking why. For example:

The Sennheiser HD 650 headphones (one of the best, but not THE best) is $650. About R5400. SA price R6800. The top of the HD range, the HD 8000, is over R10k for comparison. $1300.
Middle of the road is about $200-300.

For in-ear phones, the Sennheiser CX300-II, which is basically the bottom of the range (although salesmen in SA will tell you they're super high-end stuff) cost $40. About R350. Although once again in SA they are sold for over R500 in shops. High-end Sennheiser, Etymotic, Klipsch, Ultimate Ears etc. IEM's run over $300.

I use the Logitech X-530 speakers with my Xonar DX sound card on my PC. They were about a thousand bucks a few years ago. The Z5500's are over 3 grand and even those are considered crappy by real audio enthusiasts. I'm happy with the sound quality, and think I got good deals on most of my stuff, but I won't fool myself by thinking I'm rolling with the audiophile crowd.

Heres my pc sound.
Ive had these for over 3 years now , best set ive ever bought.

Nice stuff. I am also a fan of jamo, denon (make brilliant headphones as well), harmon kardon, velodyne (maker of great subwoofers)

Where is the middle finger emoticon :) JK

Yeah I know, like I said it's not the best, but like I said I am an audio addict and not an audiophile. BIG difference. Audiophiles are like the yuppies of audio, while I just enjoy any good sound.

@Grimspoon, which Jamos do you have? I am EXTREMELY impressed by these, and together with the Denon Amp, the sound they produce is amazing, warm mids, bass from the 2 x 10" woofers and excellent highs. A very well-rounded speaker!

And I forgotten what speakers my pc have don't remember the name :p

Got the same here and use a old Sony Hifi with 2 huge very old speakers and can go up to concert loud which I use sometimes when playing my electric guitar and rattles my windows lol.

Got some old 7.2 bose speaker system. I've never been able to get it higher than half volume.

Same here I have to turn my volume low on the PC and keep my hifi low also if I don't it is very loud plus lower youtube/winamp volume if needed. Some songs come out very loud on youtube and some are soft so it depends here.

Oh ok, I understand what you mean, I too try to get something that's relatively good, without going absolutely crazy and having to sell the car to buy some speakers. Just saying that there's some insane stuff out there.

All you need is equipment that sounds good to you. If you love sound you get what you can afford that sounds good to you.

If you find yourself spending large sums on magic cables, separate transports and converters or thinking you need to spend hundreds of hours breaking in a speaker it's time to go back on the medication.

I'm fairly addicted to (good) sound... :)

inb4 Beats by Dre.

I'm poor. So I only have a pair of Sennheiser HD555. One day, though, when I'm as rich as all the other people in this thread, I'm going to get me something worthwhile as well.
