ADSL Line speed anomaly

After I had switched over to my WebAfrica account this evening to take advantage of the Portal special on STEAM,
I noticed something odd about my line speed:

Um....I have a 384k line.

Do you think that something is the matter with my adsl router or that the glitch exists with however happens to be controlling my line at the moment?
[WebAfrica are taking it over from Telkom]

I have logged a ticket with WebAfrica to find out what is going on.
I don;t want to be billed for a 4Mb line. It's a bit steep for me.

Better check your Telkom bill at the end of the month.
If they billing you for a 4meg and you can't afford make sure to go to there offices and downgrade it to your old line speed.

I am in the process of having my ADSL line moved from Telkom to WebAfrica.
Could someone have made a mistake somewhere along the line?
 
Yeah check your billing, it could also be due to the Telkom Line Upgrades going around where you were temporarily bumped to 4mb as part of your local exchange throughput testing :)
 
What happend to me was I thought I had 3G per month but they gave me 6G and then charged me for it :mad:

Here is the story:

I went to my local Telkom Direct store this morning and made a point of speaking to the most helpful person there.
Telkom is testing the inpact of boosting line speed in my area. I happen to be one of the guinea pigs.

Test it I shall! :)

Good to know you have 4Mbps legitimately then :)

I presume this means we can go ahead and make assumptions that come the next speed bump something may also happen to 384 and 512 users, not just 4Mpbs being bumped to 8Mbps-10Mbps
