Im new to the whole online gaming thing and taking some good consideration before i choose which package to purchase? I'm not sure which line speed or if i'll need uncapped. Im a full time student so im only able to play in the holidays. That is still 3 months of the year though. Would really appreciate your input as i dont want to buy something that is not worth it. Answering your question depends on what type of games you will be playing most.
Typically though, you will want an ADSL connection. You should be able to get by on an entry-level 1Mbps line for most games. Your data needs cap will depend on your usage habits. Updates these days can chew many GB of data, and the freedom of uncapped is very appealing.

You then need a data package. MWEB for example has 1Mbps uncapped for R199 per month.

I've decided on 2Mbps and 10 Gigs per month, uncapped is very appealing but its a bit rough considering that there will be months I wont be able to use it at all. Mostly play games like Call of Duty and sometimes even Skyrim if im really bored! I was just worried about lagging issues but if you say 1Mbps is sufficient i dont think ill have a problem with that when playing other people in South Africa. Just need to figure out how to join gaming communities so that you dont have to try and connect into games overseas.

1024 line ( 1mb ) is 100% fine your uplaod is the issue .. make sure that when your line is installed you have a 384 or 512 upload on your 1mb line and that they didnt leave it on 128 or 256

You should be getting just over 200KB/s or 1.6mbps on the line.
This is pretty good to go with and would also ask to give help soon on how we can join the communities!!
