Advice: Game Trade-in

Hi All,

My Xbox 360 croaked in December. Attempting a repair did nothing and I can no longer spend any money on repairing or replacing it. Now, I am left with the painful task of getting rid of 90+ Xbox 360 games.

I have two options:

1. Sell them
This option will ensure that I get cash for my games, but it also makes it difficult to sell all of the titles. People will pick and choose what they want - leaving me with the stuff that is difficult to get rid of.

2. Trade-in
This option will allow me to get rid of all the games at once. I will get a reduced price for the games, because the store will still need to add fat on the price to get it sold whilst making a profit. Also, all proceeds from the trade normally only turns into store credit.

I'd like to hear some suggestions from people who have done something similar in the past. What did you do? Did you trade your games? Which shop gave you the fairest price?

So it's dead then? Sorry to hear about your gaming loss man.

Why don't you put a list up for sale, and take cash for what people want to buy, and trade the left-overs in?

I did trade-ins but at one point you just get sick of the low trade in values.

If I were you, then I would try and sell them as one huge bundle or individual. As a bundle you would get rid of all of them obviously but selling individual you could always trade in the leftover games.

From what I know with Trade-ins, they don't take just any game since the it's difficult to sell the more obscure titles. So I'd say selling is your best bet. Maybe offer a slightly discounted price for selling the games bundled, that way you can get rid of the not so popular titles and still get some money for them.

That's not a bad idea. I can probably get something like that done...

Have you taken the console in for a quote somewhere though? If you have so many games to sell, the proceeds from selling a few of them might cover the cost of repair if it's not too expensive.

In my experience trade ins is such a rip... You will be way better off selling them here, although its alot more effort and time consuming...

Your in a difficult position... But selling them here you may get guys buying 5 or 6 games at once...

Another thing that I'm taking into account is the admin required to get the games sold. Selling them personally also has to include me shipping the items to the buyers.

Yip... Its a pain in the ass, but thats why the second hand shops offer you so little for them... They know what a mission it is to sell them on and they have the resources to do it...

Another piece of advice that I would like from here: how would I go about pricing a second-hand game? I've looked at what second hand games are going for at other places that do stock them (pre-played)...any help with this? I want to price them fairly, because I am not really greedy and I would just like fair value for them. But that differs from person to person.

If it were me i would go onto BT Games, check their prices, and drop yours by about 50 bucks... That way people will get them cheaper than from BT and you dont get bent over...

First of all sorry for your loss I recently lost a ps3:cry: but if I was you I would try sell your games and then the few that are left you can trade them in.

Pretty sure I can think of one person in particular who might be interested in purchasing X-Box games:D
