Advice on speakers

So I need new PC speakers. Nothing too insane, but something with a nice frequency range, crisp highs, thorough mid tones, and a nice chesty bass.

They are for my PC, so largely used for gaming and music. Ideally looking for a relatively compact but high quality 2.1 set, between R1000 - R2000. An easily accessible Jack cable on the volume controller (IE many logitech 2.1 set ups) is a bonus

I have read around, and apparently the Logitech Z 230 are brilliant.

Anyone used these, or have any other suggestions?

I bought a pair of Z2300s before the price jump (R1100). They're awesome, you can't complain with 200W RMS.

The price the Z2300 go for now is insane so rather go for the Z4.
 
I actually previously owned the Z4s, and they were very good. They were stolen along with my PS3,TV and xbox about a month ago :(

I may replace them, but I would not mind getting something a little bit more high end

@toxin, would you not say the the z2300s are worth 2K?

Yea those are the ones I am looking at.

Not sure if they are worth it though...

Plus i hate waiting for stuff, if I order from prophecy now Ill probably only get them on wed/thurs.

Im gonna go see if Btgames and co have anything cool. Damn, wish those z2300s were still R1100, people rave about them, but 2K for a 2.1 speaker set up is pushing it.

I have to agree with you mate.
I just spent R2300 on a Ati 4850 1gig Gddr3 graphics card. Wich is much better value than a set of speakers.

Well, if you know someone with a Rectron account you could get them for R1900. I bought mine from them. They are worth it I've had mine for over 2years now and they're still awesome, but your right 2k is pushing it.

Im not sure I agree with you.

Firstly, the speakers will be used more often than the graphics card. After all, everytime I game I use speakers, plus I use them for music when Im working and stuff.

Also, in 5 years time, a 4850 will be obsolete, where as a good set of 2.1 speakers will still be orsm.

hmmmmmmmmm eyes the z2300s...

i actually wouldnt mind spending that if toxin hadnt pointed out that they used to be R1100. Damit toxin...

Actually they were even cheaper at one stage. :p

But man oh man, they are just power. You know you have good speakers when they're only running at 80% and your room's door and windows start rattling. :eek:

And even then the quality still sounds fantastic.......

Dude....... just get them already. :cool:

Are you gonna use the same speakers for 5 years????
I don't think so. You don't need to spend that sort of money on 2.1 speakers..Im sorry but i'll never be able to justify that!!

I don't even have speakers. Ive got a skull candy low ryder head set and that's all i need. If I wanna listen to music ect, I can play it as loud as I want wthout anyone complaining about the noise(I listen to rammstein).

If I have a party I hook up my pc to our HD bravia 7.2 sound system.

Just my 2c worth..lol!!

But if for some or other reason I had to buy speakers i'd buy the Z2300 without question.:D

But I think Im jsut gonna get the Z4s,they were good enough. I then plan on getting a nice 5.1 surround sound setup for the lounge/console room :)
