Hi guys pretty new to the custom built scene hardly know anything from the basics. So I have 11k-12k on my hands and I want to get a budget gaming rig, able to play like skyrim, dead island, cod black ops on atleast meduim settings.

Forgot to do an intro =)
Donovan here new member/newb so Hi looking foward to learn from you guys.(Sorry had to do I personly hate when people join a site just for advise and one time posts)

So I was thinking maby starting out with like a ASUS Z97-A motherbord and taking it from there.

I'm in durban so local would be apreciated and please list links prices and trustworthy shops.

And joker your rep on this site is amazing and you have 3 ref's now =) 2 was just wrong lol

Thanks for reading
Donovan

Given your budget, and what it is you wish to play -- a build in the 5-thousand rand region should suffice. Maybe you're in the market for a rig that'll be powerful for quite some time - then I understand. A rig like mine, as listed in the sig (provided you can see the sig), should more than suffice for what you're looking for -- and mine was just short over four-and-a-grand.

Probably best to decide on what form factor you want to go with for a start or even how big you would like your chassis to be... also worth telling us if you need a mouse/keyboard/speakers/monitor etc or just the "box"

Rig in my sig cost me about R 11k a year back excluding the mouse/keyboard/headset

You should definitely send Joker a PM - he just sorted me out with an AMAZING machine (check my thread somewhere in the hardware section).

Love the comunity spirt with you guys. Ok I have 10k I want the built to last me a while I was thinking maby a 1150 socket moby and prosesor and I have a monitor I can live with for now and the keybord and mouse isint a big problem.

Sorry forgot by form factor I'm geusing you mean like atx?
So yes atx meduim atx should do
I'm not looking for a beast but something that will keep up for a while

Think I might be able to go lower graphics card or something?
Still need to get.
1.Case
2.Psu
3.Heatsink/fan for cpu
4.SSD

The above comes to R10675.
So I need to go lower

If you not planning to Overclock then you don't need a K-series CPU or a Z-Series Motherboard.

I would go for:

AMD FX-6300 R1700
MSI 990FXA-GD65 1560
1 x 8GB DDR3 R1200
AMD R9 270X R2400
Seasonic M12II-520W R750
Bitfenix Comrade R480
Samsung EVO 120GB SSD R1200
Coolermaster Hyper T4 R440

Comes to just under R10 000 - Sorry it's late, i'm lazy and have to work in the morning, this is just a guesstimate based on general pricing. Intels CPU's have increased in price along with Nvidia's GPUs, they are seriously out pricing themselves now.

Or I would go with a Core i3, 8GB DDR3, H61/81 Mobo, 60/GB boot SSD and a GTX750Ti That will play almost everything at 1080p at a reasonable frame rate if you are willing to sacrifice a few AA/AF settings.

Also may want to invest in a normal HDD to store everything else a SSD is only good for a boot drive and for getting faster load times in games.
