Afrihost and Dota 2

I'm thinking of changing my line from Mweb 2mbs premium uncapped to Afrihost 4mbs uncapped. There's nothing wrong with my mweb line. Just want more speed at a better cost.

I currently live in PE, so anyone had a good or bad experience with Afrihost in PE and especially for Dota 2?

Note that it's not always the ISP at fault - there are numerous elements of the network that can affect your experience. Local exchange congestion, poor quality copper wires, congested or bad quality links to the national backbone, distance to a POP, etc.

I would suggest you sign up for Afrihost's free trial account to see if your experience is to your satisfaction. Even though you'll be testing a capped product, generally speaking your ISP service quality will be the same from this to uncapped (this is before we start talking about AUPs and such).

I'm in Centurion (Pretoria) and I am perfectly happy with my Afrihost 4Mbps uncapped.

More speed at a better cost? Latency vs cost?
Is it not a matter of you are torrenting / or download alot and your being shapped?
Also with MTN buying out Afrihost I would be reluctant to look at Afrihost.

I'm running Iburst , get 120 ping on a very good day but on average 250.
As far as I understand Mweb hosts some dota 2 servers, so moving away from them brings peering concerns.
Just a thought, perhaps switch on console when launching dota 2 , find the puplic IP that is used to connect, then ping and watch your results. Perhaps there is a hop somewhere causing some problems.

In which case, you could notify Dota about it and they tackle it with network engineers.

Well i have moved over from mweb to openweb to afrihost and am on 4mb and i DL a lot and i must say i have never experienced any lag issues i can even play while Downloading or while my wife is on FB so Afrihost is a better option for me atm

I'm wanting to get the Sfrihost capped 50gig 2MB line account.

I don't download much,it's more for online gaming. Is this price reasonable?

Its R297 (50gig+2MB line,line rental)
