Afrihost Uncapped unbearably slow?

That's cause I quoted unshaped...

Uncapped shaped 4Mb is also R597 and that's gonna be a whole different ball game cause now you've gotta look at each ISP having their own FUP and when those kick in etc etc.

And as for the why - I'm not saying there's no point to the uncapped packages. My argument is that there are cases where a high cap is better than "uncapped". My case for instance, having it as capped is giving me a lot more value than the equivalent uncapped unshaped package. In your case your compromise is not being unshaped all the time for a cheaper price which you say works for you so nothing wrong there either.

You're making a good point, I'm thinking I might in fact go for a 10Mbps line and the 100+100GB capped dsl, at least I'll get 200GB in Dec, then we'll see what they do with their double data deals.

It'll cost the same for 100+100GB at 10Mbps as 4Mbps uncapped, and I can always change over if it's not working for me

EDIT: Actually looking at the last few months, I think I would need 150GB a month, and the double data deal ends 31 Dec :-(

The next bundle up is R599 without the line rental, which would put the total cost up to R998. My internet budget is about R800

Ooooor, I can get 120GB anytime plus 240GB between midnight and 6am at 10Mbps on Web Africa fr R799. That sounds like an option to me....

Afrihost CEO said in an e-mail to subscribers today (Thursday, 20 November 2014), that the top technicians and engineers from Afrihost, MTN, and a hardware supplier are working “around the clock” to resolve problems on its network.

This follows the recent announcement (and subsequent putting on ice) of Afrihost Plus, a new membership programme the Internet service provider (ISP) intended to launch today.

Visser said that the announcement elicited a very mixed response from subscribers, with negative comments about the ISP’s ADSL network flooding in after the details about Afrihost Plus were made public.

Responding to these complaints from subscribers about the poor performance of Afrihost’s digital subscriber line (DSL) services, Visser said that he wanted to explain what was wrong and what they are doing to fix it.
