Has anyone downloaded it yet? I'm still stuck at patches and wondering how big the total dl is.

Can't wait to play :)
 
Is it a free download..?:) How much have downloaded so far..? And I didn't even know this is out yet...:)
 
I played a bit of the beta, don't recall how big it was. It was quite fun though, sort of a return to the original elements that made AoE great.

It's a freemium. I've downloaded for about 4 hours now (384kbps) and it only shows progress per file, and the current one (art.bar) is only 19%. Apparently it's 2.5 gigs uncompressed, so maybe about 1.75 download in total.

I've heard a lot of people moan about how ridiculously expensive some of the premium content is. Like, $100 for 6 month's worth of content, then you have to cash up again for any content released afterwards, and there's no indication of what content might be released during your 6 months. I mean honestly, R700 and you probably won't get the full game.

But this is good. I never planned on buying additional goodies with 40 hours of free gameplay anyway.
 
Downloading to have a look, but it's literally taking ages to install/download the patches :(
 
Been playing a bit of it since this afternoon.. it's okay.. very repetitive i suppose and this whole paying thing is retarded.

on the up side.. i dig the cartoony graphics lol
 
Well when I heard that it cost $100 to get what would amount to half an actual Age of Empire game I decided not to bother.

You get 40 hours free content. That's pretty good. $100 sets you up for 6 month's releases, which is a bit ridiculous. What's even more ridiculous, is that it's R140 for a single civilization. That does, admittedly, include the use of rare items and ranked gameplay. I might just buy the greeks if I'm still as interested in the game when I reach the level cap. Some competitive gameplay is always fun.
 
Yeah the game itself looks interesting and would have definitely paid R300 for a full game but paying more for trickle out content is just not that appealing.

Free games are damn expensive.
 
Don't pay more, then. I haven't purchased anything and I'm enjoying every second of the game :) Probably played 10 hours already
 
Finally finished the download last night, so far enjoying the game... Just won't be paying extra though, will pplay till I can't anymore then I'll bail.... Unless the price is good enough for what I get.... so far seems crazy.

Ya I also don't see the point of buying a 6 month pass for $100. I'm considering buying just a single civilization.. but even then its like........ why again? hahaha
 
Ok so I installed the game, it's up to date and working except when I click play in the game it comes up saying it can't connect to the servers (error LF004). Anyone else experience this and a possible fix? Google wasn't too helpful this time.
