Aion - General Discussion

You might want to double check that it didn't get hacked and used for RMT - it seems that a lot of old inactive accounts had that happen to them.

Aion's one drawback, Voicy, is the fact that it still features broken/unbalanced PvP - and it becomes pretty much unavoidable after level 30. And it is guaranteed to piss you off.

As much as I hate the concept of twinking a char, I started a char last night specifically to create a twink - thinking that if you can't beat the bastards, you might as well join them and exact sweet murderous revenge. And there's no getting away from the fact that there's still a lot of grinding involved (I'm busy with my Miragent gear quest on my Sorceress, and it's endless)

I break the monotony by switching between my characters a lot. I have 8 of them, so I have space to play around in :D

Yeah my account was hacked, but I contacted support and got my account back. I never used my account after this but when I checked my account a couple months later it said it was banned. Never even got an email...

Lol shadow if u starting it just hook me up when u on im also starting it -_-

Starting what? My twink?

Already done. Level 14 Ranger ... which I'm planning to cap at level 40 until I have a full set of +10 level 30 AP gear - at which point I'll think about leveling up again.

A word to the wise, think carefully about the class you want to use for twinking. Casters are all well and good, but since the Eltnen/Morheim rifts are permanently nerfed your only options are Beluslan/Heiron Twink hunts/Abyss, it means you'll have to get to level 45 before you pose any danger to a level 50+, since 99% of your spells get resisted, which means you can't do any damage. So that cuts out clerics/sorcs/sm - unless you plan to go for a level 50 twink, then it'll be fine ... just a lot of work to get there.

Temps are relatively useless because of the low DPS - again only really worth it at level 50.

Gladdy's make awesome twinks, even at level 40, I've seen some pretty potent ones wiping out level 50's (obviously not well-geared ones). Just be sure to keep a proper PvE set on hand for instances, since clerics hate (and I speak from personal experience) healing a level 30 AP gear glad in any level 40+ instance - they get badly pwned by the mobs.

That pretty much leaves sins and rangers. Sins do a crap-load of damage and can kill almost anything (and the 2.5 update will make them more deadly), but I find them challenging because of our near permanent 200ms+ latency. Especially in the air.

Rangers are easier because you can keep your distance and they have silence/sleep arrow options - just ... getting one up to level 20 is a pain because before that time they have seriously sucky DPS.

Meant Miragent :p

But yeah doing a sorc twink lol

Lol - have fun with that. (sheesh ... be more specific, coulda saved me a ton of typing :D )

With regards to Miragent - I'm busy with the pauldrons at the moment - so I have a lot of Theo Lab and DP runs in my immediate future. If we can find ourselves a decent group we can do a daily run of TL. I do a little grinding in between though to speed things up. I had a nice group, but they got their last medal today, so I won't be able to join with them anymore.

9 down, 21 to go :(

One of the many things I love about Aion - what they manage to do with the emotes. The video below was a PV made in association with a Korean pop group called the Wonder Girls - they worked with NCSoft to create an emote with the dance from their track 2 Different Tears - its quite catchy too.

Sadly - the emote is only available to subscribers of the Aion magazine (which is a bummer for most people) - I'll upload a video with my character at some point in the near future - I'm waiting to receive the rest of the emote series first ;)

hey guys glad to see some people playing Aion!! :-) I am on a private server Infinite Aion... And from what it sounds like there ain't much difference in the Retail version... Are there game cards to play the retail version and how much are you looking a month??

If no Game cards how do you pay for your subscription??

Recurring subscription on my credit card with NCSoft. I could pay less if I did the 3-month or 6-month sub, but I want to be able to cancel my sub quickly when I get word of GW2's release date - Aion is really just my time killer at the moment.

With all that being said, the 2.5 patch is going live today - and the servers are going to be down for 9 hours - meaning no Aion for me today.

You can buy timecards, my mates do it, but its much easier (and cheaper) to just use a credit card (time cards turn out to be about 150ish)

So 2.5 is officially live ... lots of changes (most of which I can't see because my video card will swear at me if I try and switch to the enhanced engine) - but a lot of effects have been changed, bunch of new skills - and the Adventurer's Guide (those random little surveys they send you as you level with nice stuff included) has been updated to be a little more awesome.

Me and a friend created new characters last night to celebrate (this would be character number 16 or 17 for me ... I've lost track), character creation is now even more detailed than before, so messing around took me about 40 minutes. I'll post some screenies soon.
