I've got a 13 gig install sitting on my drive :o

That includes all the latest updates and the launcher .... which is pretty much part and parcel of the whole package anyways - I don't think the launcher is big, but I haven't checked.

Just a warning - try and be logged on before 6:30 ... any time after that and you're guaranteed to sit in a queue. I logged on at 7 last night (Gorgos server - which is apparently one of the quieter ones) and had a 25 minute wait time in a queue of 400 odd.

An hour later the queue was at 1,500+ with a 2 hour waiting time.

I'm seriously wondering what the situation will be like once the game launches for the rest of Europe.
 
I'm following one of the lead Dev's on twitter and he seems to be working hard on the queue issue...


btw Kabousie - how's your mind china? a 9GB zip installing to 6GB? You're using haxx again aren't you? :p
 
Yeah been reading about these accursed queues! Some places they are about 4-9hrs on average at peak times!?

Wondering how retail release will affect this... Man, and then getting a Disconnect is going to really bite! They really need to roll out some new servers with free controlled transfers from super high pop servers to the new / low ones. Imagine all the people that are being split up, not just due to Race balance, but also not being able to properly roll on a server with friends and guildies!

These things do happen on pretty much all new MMO releases. However if these issues persist for too long they had better offer some free time.
 
Yeah ... I just can't wait for my box so I can stare at it for a while. And then open it up and stare at the contents.

At least I got my special items already ... except for the little thingy (whatever it is) that extends your flight time. That only comes at level 40.

Anybody know when the emote for Guildwars applies? I want to make my guildies jealous :D
 
Can't tell you ... I got the fully patched version from someone staying near me.

One thing that's really been getting me worked up though are the idiots who come on the server and go on about how "This isn't nearly as good as WoW" or "Runescape's graphics are much better."

My question to them is, if they're so much better, why are you on my server chatting and not playing the other game. STFU and get off if you hate it!!

The funny thing is, they never leave. You still see them chatting away 30 minutes down the line.

i hate them, they are the special children on any MMO that comes in and just talk s*** about X or Y.
 
I haven't encountered them much on GW ... but GW is an old and settled game, so I suspect most of the juvenile fanbois have either grown up or left to do whatever fascinates them.

I suspect a similar situation will arise when GW2 is finally released.

Do the special keys come in the box, or do you get them from the retailer like the beta keys? A little confused.

I take it you're playing the NA version?

Can't wait for my box either so I can do /aion and make everyone in The Great Temple of Balthazar jealous :D
 
Nope ... I'm playing the Euro version.

If you pre-ordered the game, your pre-order key gives you access to the special pre-order items, but you need to log into your Account Management on NCSoft to activate it .. and you need to choose the character you want to apply it on. I haven't been able to test if you can apply it to more than one character.

I'm not sure if having ordered the collectors edition over the normal edition makes any difference to the pre-order code you get - I'm assuming the guys who pre-ordered also get some special items.

At the moment, those who pre-ordered have access to the pre-launch gametime - beta keys are no longer valid. If you've pre-ordered and paid, you should already have your pre-order key.

I pre-ordered mine from Take 2, and it's been paid for, but I haven't received any keys from them yet. I emailed them 2 days ago asking them what happens with regards to all the keys and they just told me that they don't have any beta keys left and that they would start shipping pre-orders from today. I didn't ask for a beta key...I asked if they have any keys for anything they're handing out :D But I guess that means no.

So yeah, I'll just have to wait until Friday to play I guess ^.^
 
Scaly bastards. They were supposed to send you your pre-order key after you placed the order. Has nothing to do with the beta.

Essentially, this week of game-time is a bonus for the people who ordered, those who merely had the beta wouldn't have access.

Isn't that for the CE only?

I ordered the Steelbook version. I guess I'll have to do some googling to see whether or not I was supposed to get the key. I guess it doesn't matter as I won't have the client until Thursday.
