Aion - General Discussion

I got my shipping notification this morning. Since I stay in Cape Town, I'm hoping to have it by Friday. I have my doubts that I'll still get it today.
 
I was hoping to get mine today too, since they said they'd start shipping it from today, but alas I haven't received the 'you can come and collect it now' email yet. My ETA is still set to the 25th on the site too.

Oh well.
 
Yep - Zaps etc. all started shipping today since official launch is Friday. I'd assume they can get into a world of trouble if they prematurely release. Just like you do you other facets of life :p


EDIT: Scary! Just as i submitted this post, ZAPS sent me an email saying my order has been sent off!
 
Well if they prematurely release it won't do much harm considering you need an early access key to play before Friday :p

Damn tomorrow being a public holiday! Means I have no chance of collecting it tomorrow.

Mwahaha .... Which I have.

I'm assuming they instructed the delivery company to only make final deliveries on Friday.
 
Got mine this morning - delivery bloke rocked up at 7:50am - good thing I get into the office early.

So now I'm sitting here, with this huge Aion box staring me in the face, begging me to play with it :( It's sad really.

Any of you guys have any idea on which server you're planning to log onto?

I'm on the Gorgos server.

But will only try play a little later on - have things that NEED to get done 1st.

As far as servers, oh man, I do not want a huge queue that is for sure! So how is Gorgos shadowfox overall? Like queues, the community on Elyos side?

Gorgos seems to be one of the quieter servers - that being said, if I tried logging in after 7PM I was guaranteed to get stuck in a queue, but based on what I've heard, nowhere near as bad as Spatalos. There's also Perentos, which I've heard is very PvP focused - haven't checked it out yet.

Keep in mind this was prelaunch, I have zero idea what it's going to be like after tonight - there's going to be thousands of new people coming on board.

Overall atmosphere - hmmm, tricky to say. It's still very new, and we'll have new crowds coming onboard, so that will upset the status quo a little bit. But it seems pretty relaxed so far - although we have a little infighting between the Dutch and English speakers from time to time - it seems the Dutch are trying to claim the Gorgos server for themselves.

I've gotten myself pulled into a pretty decent legion (20 odd members) - nice relaxed crowd from the sound of things - they don't want much more than you behave yourself - no strict requirements. I might start a legion myself at one point, but I've got my hands full with my Guild on GW, so that's a ways off still.

One thing I hate though, is a lack of willingness to help out sometimes.

When you die, there's a 30 minute timespan where you can be resurrected - and even the clerics running past don't seem to be willing to cast the spell. Your only other option is to respawn at whichever Obelisk you soul-binded to - which in my case last night, was right back in the newbies area. And it costs money to transport yourself back and forth.

My main goal now - you get costumes for your characters - they serve no real purpose other than decoration really - I'm saving up to buy a kimono for my character :D 116,000 kinah, so it's going to take a while.

I was VERY surprised to see that even the normal version comes with Wings emote key for your guild wars character! Nice one!

So I'm busy updating the client (it pulls a 526MB patch via the client, Deceptor)

I'm pretty keen on lurking on Gorgos if I manage to beat the queues!

Btw, any idea on what class you guys are rolling as yet? I'm still partial to Assassin - as I only played as a rogue in WoW as well. I think after that I'll prolly try a gladiator. Their armor looks sick!
 
I've got three characters:

Primary character is Lumiere - Sorceress - currently level 13 - I'm spending most of my time on her.

My other two characters are Makie (level 7 Scout) who I'll probably make an Assassin when she ascends, and Hazumu (level 5 priest) - I'm still split on whether to go the Cleric or Chanter route with her. Chances are I'll go Chanter.

Any questions about Ascension anyone? I've been through it three times now :p
 
Battling to get access to NCSOFT's website. Guess its overloaded.

Yeah this is pretty rough. Seems both their web and download servers are NOT coping!

Well ... 400,000 pre-orders ... and most of those got their deliveries today.

So tonight is going to be insane. I think I'll spare myself the annoyance and stick to Guildwars tonight :)
 
Good plan. I will keep trying periodically, but I am not a fool to get worked up over this.

Will play something else on the side.

Busy updating (it is sloooow and erratic), but I am battling to link my Aion account to my Guild Wars account - The webpages just keep timing out basically.
 
Busy trying to update mine now. EISH the servers seem overloaded. It keeps losing the connection, and when it does it gets like 2Kbps.

In the mean time...I'm loving running around Guild Wars doing the /aion emote and people being like OMG :D

Im also having issues trying to create an account :/

Luckily I had the game a few days ago so downlaoding the update was pretty easy. Once Im in, is there any particular server i should play on?
