At least two people died when a light aircraft crashed at Lanseria Airport in Johannesburg on Monday morning, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann confirmed two deaths but could not provide further information.

ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said passengers on the plane had died but could not immediately confirm the number.

He said there were 21 passengers on the plane.

Newer report says all 3 passengers died in the crash.

Weather prediction leaves a lot to be desired in SA, and for small planes like these the weather plays a massive role.

My one friend's dad has two of these 4 seater type efforts. Constantly asking me to fly with them. Not a chance will I step inside those flimsy things. Can basically turn the thing upside down with my own strength.
 
The Amount of Aircraft crashes is such a tiny percentage to that that fly everyday... The weather on Monday was ridiculous, Im sure you will find thats the only reason for the crash...
 
How can they be unsure if it was taking off or landing though? Surely all planes need permission to land/take off?

Still too many for my liking.
 
I heard about it on the radio yesterday, they said the plane was trying to land (or to circle around to land) during the rain storm and lost control.

Johannesburg - A light aircraft has crashed at Lanseria Airport in Johannesburg, according to reports on Monday morning.ER24 paramedics said at least three people died when the plane apparently crash-landed.
Lanseria chief executive Gavin Sayce told Reuters that three people were killed when their King Air 90 plane crashed.
Initial reports stated there may have been at least 21 people on the plane, but Sayce confirmed there were only three on board, all of whom died.
According to Eyewitness News, the plane crashed and burst into flames while attempting to land in bad weather.
