Aliens: Colonial Marines Teaser Trailer and Release Date

Jeez this game is getting bashed around the web. Everything pointed to a good looking game. Oh well, maybe their marketing and positioning of the game was just done right, instead of the game itself. I'll have to play for myself to give an honest opinion, but as things as standing right now, I am going to skip the hell out of this.

It's actually not a bad game. It's just a bad Aliens game. I think the bashing it's receiving is a bit over the top, tbh.

It would make a very good game for $20.

Well, I just finished it. It wasn't what I wanted from an Aliens game, but I can't say I regret it either. It was pretty fun for an action-romp. Some things were disappointing, some things less so.

Just that ending. Mah gawd, doing a job intended for 4 players by yourself? Fuuuuck. Pants were shat.

Jis that was quick.

Haha, I get my books from UNISA tomorrow so I had to finish it up before I started studying.

Anyway, I'll say what I said initially, the game isn't as bad as DNF, but it would have been a lot better had the xenomorph AI just been authentic.

Will post my opinion on it over the course of the weekend. Disappointed that the game being received so harshly, hoping that it isn't as bad as they made it out to be. I'm a die hard Aliens fan, so I'll probably enjoy it either way.

Ok just played the first 2 missions now. Here is my short "review" for how its going so far.

Game starts off well, graphics, movement and sound feel authentic. Quite a scary experience for the opening, get your blood pumping.
The first thing that threw me off was the horde encounter of Aliens. It saddens me to say that the aliens animations feel rather... human. Although they still crawl on walls and leap, they don't feel like the slithery slimy aliens from the movie. In my opinion, I feel that the recent AVP reboot got the aliens' animations and behavior much better than this version.

I'm trying not to give any spoilers away, but the games general pacing and combat reminds me of Half Life 1 & 2. It would have been groundbreaking for a couple of years ago, but it feels like the mechanics have dated and that I'm playing a 4 year old game...

There are a few positives though, as the game itself is not horrible. Definitely not as bad as DNF, and I can imagine the co-op being a blast. Level design seems good so far, and the attention to detail really saves it. So far I'm enjoying it, will carry on later this evening.
