A Q&A on retailer Gamestop's Facebook page between The Witcher 2 fans and developer CD Projekt RED yesterday revealed the studio won't be charging for any of the game's upcoming downloadable content.

"Let [us] announce that all our DLCs will be FREE," they write. "All of them. If anything will be for purchase, those will be expansion packs. First DLC (side-quest called "Troll Trouble") [launches] together with the game release."

As you may know already, a built-in updater will be included with the game, usable for those who register their copy, so grabbing patches and new content should be a piece of cake.

A few other juicy details: besides affecting the story, save importing will bring over money and some items, including the famed Raven Armor. Other bonuses are in place, though they don't want to spoil them. Lastly, playtime is estimated at a minimum of 40 hours, and this is only if you go straight through the main quest -- this should be "doubled or tripled for the non-linearity."

Damn. I knew about the free DLC, but I didn't know that money and items (especially the Raven Armor) carry over to The Witcher 2. I'm 90% sure I have a complete playthrough savegame with the Raven Armor somewhere, will have to make sure.

Nog net twee slapies!!! :D

That is an awesome picture Guitar Demon. Wish it was at a higher resolution, it would make an awesome wallpaper

Sigh nooo I lost my save :(

Dam so Can't wait predownloaded and waiting.

I replayed it two weeks back since I lost my save( at least the neutral one I wanted, had a order one). So I am all set for tuesday.

CDProject are fast on their way of becoming a favourite dev of mine!

If we register our copies then that doesn't mean we have to have an account on their site does it? Sorry for the n00bish question! I haven't bought a PC game for close on a year!

I just checked my savegames and I do have a savegame with Raven Armor, sided with elves in this playthrough. I also have D’yaebl and Gwalhir (Steel Witcher swords) and Aerondight (Silver Witcher sword). It would be pretty damn awesome if those carried over as well.

If the game doesn't work on my PC come tuesday I'll finish my current playthrough (just started Chapter III) before I get another gfx card at the end of the month. Siding with the humans this time, will do a neutral playthrough again in the future.
