AMD HD7870 and HD7850 specs + pricing

I got rid of my 5770 and have now replaced with a 6850 for the time being untill the 7870 or 7850 is released.
 
The pricing on these 7870s/7850s is definitely more reasonable than the 7970. Maybe I'll get two of these for my new rig instead *ponders*
 
hmm i just got a 560 ti few months ago, not sure if i should sell it off once one of these 7870s come around or buy another 560ti (for sli) :confused:

Depends how much you have to spend. Definitely be more cost-effective to get the 2nd 560ti. Also, the 560ti in SLI isn't exactly slow...
 
yeah, but if i do go sli, il have to invest in a new psu as well, but i just saw details of a 7950 now to so i think il actually wait for a couple of reviews and local pricing then decide, for now though the 560 ti hasnt been giving any problems and is running 95 % of the games iv been playing on high, with the exception of arkham city which for some reason lags with dx 11 :wtf:
 
I think I'll wait a bit as my 6870 is running pretty much all my games without much of a fuss. The 7870 does intrigue me though.
 
My MSI 6850 OC Power Editon runs BF3 @ 1920x1080 @ 50-60fps on high. I checked on some tests and it is about 1fps than a stock 6870.

Next upgrade will be 7850 or 7870, price dependent and when it arrives.

I'd love to see that..Constant frame rate of 50 fps...Impossible with that GPU.

i must agree there, i have a 6870, i prefer to run on medium as running on high pushes the fps down to 40 in some places, i prefer 55fps at the very least
 
I see on B2k maps i do get slightly lower fps. But it feels fine on high when i play. Maybe becaus my 5770 was only giving 35fps. Anyway will be interesting what we will have to fork out when the 7800 series cards arrive.
 
I was hoping on upgrading in the holidays that just past but now my schedule has changed a lot hearing about Ivy bridge and the 78xx series...

Any ideas on how the 7xxx series will compare to Nvidia's new cards?

Unfortunately no one can answer that question. There are no real details about the new Nvidia cards available.
 
Hmmm, decisions, decisions .. my 4890 needs to be replaced. Do I stay with ATi or wait for a new Nvidia offering? :confused:

Me too, Have been an ATI fan since my first x1900xt some years ago. Never really looked at Nvidia as i got tired of having to keep changing drivers to get certain games to work.

No, in terms of tech, a year is like a year. Four to five months is between one quarter and a half a year. Lets not try to redefine time now :)

And my understanding - based on various reading - is that the high-end Kepler (the GTX680 or whatever) will be amongst the first of the Kepler cards to be released. Ofc, the dual-gpu GTX690 will be released later, but that's hardly surprising. The dual-gpu 7990 - or whatever it'll be called - is still lurking in the wings, more than a month after the real release.
