That is just beyond insane...Really worried about the price though, a source I know told me $649 but I see some places listing for over $1000 xD I doubt that is AMD pricing and the shops just looking to make a quick buck.

For the guys getting the BF4 bundle, it comes with BF4 and BF4 premium.

6 months away. Nvidia has a lot of work to do in those 6 months.

Love watching the contest between these two companies.

Same here but its becoming more and more annoying at the same time.
This whole fanboyism thing has to end (Not that it ever will) Its so annoying trying to talk about hardware and then "They" arrive and ruin it. I haven't it bothered posting about this at my usual stomping grounds because I can't be bothered to get into a flame war.

Yeah, buy what's best for your needs and budgets, not by brand.

On reflection, maybe I should have waited for the 290 to release, but screw it, I wanted to see what Nvidia drivers are like, and I couldn't wait another 2 months for my pc :p

Nothing wrong with the 780 bud, Fantastic card, I've had one and I have many clients that own one/two/three of them.
I use both Nvidia and AMD products, although I do like AMD more it doesn't mean I have to go force my opinion on other people and defend what I like to the death.

I've used ATI for the majority of my gaming rigs, heck these 780s are only the second class of Nvidia card I've owned. Guess I just got tired of the constant battles with ATI CF drivers, and decided to see what the Nvidia experience is like :)

May end up getting ATI cards again, once they've had more time to sort out their CF frame-metering drivers!

Price, per Newegg:

Newegg.com has finally went live with the reference Radeon R9 290X from MSI that is priced at US $729.99. Although it is not "officially" listed but rather hidden in the HTML code, the price of US $729.99 suggest that the official price will most probably be set at US $699.99.

Since Newegg.com usually adds anywhere between US $10 and $30 to the suggested retail price it is anyone best guess that AMD intends to price the R9 290X at US $699.99. Newegg.com most likely wanted to keep the price hidden until last minute but HTML code shows that it will be set at US $729.99.

Bear in mind that AMD still can easily change the price at any time before the official launch and while many hoped for a $599.99 price tag, it looks like that AMD wants just a "tad" more money.

This price puts the R9 290X in a rather akward position as it might end up costing $50 more than the GTX 780. While the GTX Titan is still priced way above it at US $999.99 we still do not have a clear performance numbers to make the final judgement. Early details suggest that it will be faster than the GTX 780 but we honestly hoped that AMD might put a lot more pressure on Nvidia by pricing it below or at least at the same level as the GTX 780.

Of course, we still need to see some official reviews and prices, so we just have to wait a bit longer.

I'm sorry but nvidia is losing this battle! glad AMD finally found their true talent :p

Not really sure it's a battle. Titan was released in late February, this year and the GTX 780 was release in late May. It's more like a leapfrog effect than a battle :)

Also, $700? Higher than I expected :(

Its slightly less than what a 780 costs and performs better than a Titan apparently bud.
The whole late to the game thing is also not true, Nvidia and AMD launch cards at different intervals on purpose. Its a piss poor idea to launch a new rival product at the same time as your rival.

Local pricing should be reasonable especially when it comes from me or Rebeltech :p

Yes, that was the point of showing the release interval for the Nvidia cards :p

Newegg is actually selling the MSI 290X for $80 more than the MSI GTX780, but it will definitely be faster (and it has more memory).

It's so much fun watching this 'cat-and-mouse' game between ATI and Nvidia :D

lol Yeah it is xD
I just wanna see true performance numbers now...

Im more of a nvidia fan myself but AMD is causing some interesting stirs lately, now if they can just get the power consumption down a bit.

Im wondering what that card is going to do with mantle, and if mantle does take off if nvidia is going to support it at all seeing as it is open source.
