AMD Radeon R7 265

Glordit

Neo Zeon
With pricing all over the map, AMD wants to plug the gap between its Radeon R7 260X and R9 270. To that end, it's introducing a Curaçao-based Radeon R7 265 with better-than-Radeon HD 7850 performance at $150. Will that be enough to stave off Maxwell?

Okay so the R7 260X get's a price drop, which can only be a good thing. I assume this is to counter Nvidias Maxell cards which the initial launch is set for later this month from the green team with the GT 750 and 750 ti.

Looking at performance it falls just underneath the R7 270 and above the GTX 660 - by just above, about 2-5 fps more. It also looks like an direct competitor to the HD7850.

It's all getting a bit confusing really, more cards? For sure! more competition is always good, but when it comes down to splitting hairs like this one can only wonder.

The 265 is basically a 7850 with higher clocks, lower power draw and better thermals bud.
What's important is how much your willing to spend and then trying to get the absolute maximum performance for your money.

Right now Nvidia offers nothing in the mid range cards compared to AMD.

True, its either low end or high end.

AMD really is taking over the market with the R series cards.

I was eyeing the R7 260X at about R2000 that is my absolute limit, but I see with price drops it makes an even more valuable buy.

Well these are apparently coming in at around $150, local pricing...not sure anything between R1800 and R2400 I reckon, depending on brand ect.

Looking around at local Pricing the R7-265 is the same price as a R9 270. Infact it looks to be a rebranded 270 model when looking at benchmarks.

Mmmm I think the 270 will be slightly faster at high res gaming but not by much, I still don't AMD's thinking behind it but the 260 and 260x are not great for gaming where as the 265 is. I'll try get hold of one and test it out.

The 265 murders the GTX 750 ti at it's price range, but the 750 ti has a godly power draw for a card of it's power... Any way a little perspective.

I am seriously considering the 270X in my coming build, it's price to performance ratio vs. the other cards is just insane. They are basically within R200 of each other.

270X is a great card, performs incredibly well. I actually owned one for awhile and loved it. Overclocked incredibly well and was cool and quiet.
