Adding support for DirectX 10.1 graphics and DDR3 memory
"Following a streak of leaked details that have recently surfaced on the Internet, Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices has just announced the official launch of its latest desktop chipset, the much-anticipated 785G, coming to provide mainstream users with a series of new features. Building on the chip maker's success with the 780G and 790GX chipsets, the new addition comes packed with one significant update, namely that of the added support for DirectX 10.1 graphics, integrated in the chip's graphics core. Aside from that, there are a couple of other new things that have been built-inside the new AMD chipset, including the support for both DDR2 and DDR3 memory configurations.
As you might have anticipated from all the leaked details that have surfaced on the Internet, the new chipset will provide users with the graphics performance of the new Radeon HD 4200-series graphics cores, stepping up from the previously used Radeon 3200-series. This new feature will enable 785G-based motherboards to offer support for DirectX 10.1 applications, HDMI 1.3 connectivity and the new and enhanced UVD2 (Unified Video Decoder) technology, straight out of the box. The integrated GPU has been set to a core speed of 500MHz, the same as the Radeon HD 3200 IGP, but the extra features enable the board to deliver an increase in performance.
he integrated graphics inside the new AMD chipset will also come with support for the company's Hybrid CrossFire solution, which will enable users to add a discrete graphics card to the platform, consequently increasing graphics performance. In addition, coming to support the launch of the upcoming Windows 7 operating system, the new chipset is accompanied by a full set of Windows 7 WHQL-certified drivers.
Unlike its predecessors, the new chipset will enable users to build their systems with either DDR2 or DDR3 memory, which makes it a more reliable alternative for PC users on a budget. According to the world's second largest chip maker, the launch of the new chipset will see about 30 boards ready for retail."

but hell i might actually consider buying a DDR3 Mobo at the end of the year.... its about time to upgrade now
