R550~ for a AM3+ supported Board. Only supports 95W CPU's so only a FX-8100 or Below. Still thats tempting... I am looking at a FX-4100 or a FX-6100 myself. 8-core's are out of my budget

i am waiting patient for these processors i was going to upgrade to the X6 1100T in the interim, but i think i will just hold out for a complete upgrade.

Was just going to place my order for the 2600k now this comes out. Now i must wait for the official release

I am wondering what core 4 to 6/8 will do in most games. My understanding is most game are using like 3 cores effectively.

As far as I know the majority of games don't even utilise 2 cores completely - maybe the newer releases will push that a bit - seeing as how BF3 asks for a quad-core, apparently. Dunno if there's any software that'll use the CPU to capacity.

But - once the programmers catch up - I can only imagine what a dream intensive tasks like 3D-modelling, video-editing etc will be like
