Neo to be honest how do you think a R3000 cpu will perform against a R12k cpu?

eish bru...

The 980X is the best there is..but as Tank say it cost R12k. In gaming the 1090T @4.1 is equal to the 980x and not far behind in other tests. Check out the test done by guru3d or @ extreme systems where they got them to 4.5 on air and 6 mhz on LN2

I phoned the Cape Town Supplier today no stock in CT i was too early the guy said, i must try next week so hopefully next week i might have 6 cores insted or four.

Nobody has stock locally it seems. Well i am hoping mine arrives today from the states..Ordered on Ebay last Sunday

Dude, it's AMD. They're known for pulling a rabbit from a hat and kicking @ss with budget CPU's. The reason I asked is because I don't want to underestimate them :)

I love AMD CPU's I dont know why but from the days of The AMD Thunderbird i have been using AMD and ONLY AMD. Intel High end costs way too much and i doubt its worth spending that much cash for it. 12K on a CPU a tad bit syco, you can get two other things with that money.

It doesn't compete with the 980x at all.... There is no comparison. It's a Phenom 2 with 2 extra cores stuck on and it performs exactly in line with what you'd expect; not to mention the cores have to share the 6mb l3 cache of the X4's. BUT it's incredibly cheap. You can get for r1800 now a 6 core cpu that will fit onto an am2+ board, AND will overclock to 4ghz with a little bit o'bloomin' luck.

Well in fact these chips overclock good, check out extreme system forums..Guys are getting in excess of 4ghz on air cooling. So with water it will be much better.

Buying Intel chips over AMD is like buying a Mac over a PC.

/feels the amd-love-fan-bois :)

...i would still love to see who this thing performs in design, rendering, encoding and related VS intel. that's what i'm concerned about and not *just* gaming :D. been using amd up too the release of core2duo; took amd and ati bit of time to catch up. the new ati's are something as is the amd cpus.

however after the nice fuckup with my ati his 4850, it will be a very long time before i get ati again. been a nasty card with endless powerplay issues and so on. maybe i just got the one card in the batch which was fubar, but it turned me back to the green i've been since like forever.

still not sure if i should get amd rather for design/game mobo. intel so far in my experience has been solid for pro design and on the side gaming however you coat the carrot.

Love my AMD CPU's, I've been using them for 3 generations now :). I however had my 8800GT fail on me so I'm moving to the red camp since I don't trust nVidia anymore. :/

I bought a 1055T with an Asus M4A890GTD Pro and am quite happy at the moment. Didn't clock it yet but std it is way slower than my old i7 920 machine in gaming and overall system feel.

i have a 955 black edition quad core. don't see the need to move over to the 1090T :)

other than bragging rights :p
