Analyst: no more single player games by 2014

The one other thing that this "veteran" doesn't take into account is that sometimes a person would like to just kick back and enjoy a session of some mindless gaming time to themself and not play with everyone else, that is why we call it personal time...

Couldn't have said it better! I agree with you 100%.

Your reading too much into the headline and not enough into what the guy is saying. He's not saying that the only games around in 2014 will be Battlefield and Call of Duty (without an SP campaign). He's saying that most games will have some kind of online aspect even if optional. He's not predicting the death of storylines and having fun by yourself. Most games, even pure single player games, already have some kind of online integration!

2014 is probably a bit of an eager estimate, but he's not completely off the deep end. Some time in the not too far future all games will probably have some kind of online.
The only sensible post so far :)

He definitely has a point, especially wIth the interwebz availability and speed spreading like it is.

Thats 3 years away. We've already come so far in the last 3 years. Its plausible.

I'm sorta okay with that, as long as SA's Internet is much better than it is right now.. Coz I hate shooting first at someone and dying first too just to see in the killcam that I didn't let off a single bullet...

I agree up to a point, in the future, gaming will be online, but SP will still be here for some some to come.

It was also predicted that the PC is dying off! (I rest my case)

Lol where did you read that. Unless they bring out holograms/virtual reality and stuff which doesnt require consoles/PCS, I don't think PC's/consoles or anything to do with them will die out soon.

Well imho, SP certainly won't be going anywhere. Ok yes they want for everyone in the world to have internet connection, but that won't happen either. Sp games will have to stick around until such time as the whole world has a form of a connection. The one other thing that this "veteran" doesn't take into account is that sometimes a person would like to just kick back and enjoy a session of some mindless gaming time to themself and not play with everyone else, that is why we call it personal time...

I agree sometimes I enjoy kicking back and playing games without multiplayer interference

I meant to say they predicted that gaming on the PC is dying. (Guess they were wrong)

I have never ever paid attention to these so-called analysts. The prediction game is a guessing game and at the end of the day, it's just that. I've always wished that these people lose jobs because they get paid to talk bull and when they are wrong, nobody holds them to their feet to the fire.

Hahahahahaha, too true.

I often wonder how I'd fair if I had the opportunity to play in the UK/US with a minimal latency. Part of me thinks I'd own...and the other part thinks I'd suck more coz I've picked up such bad habits of compensating for the lag.
