Anno 2070 demo is live

Nice! I love the Anno series. Would like to get my hands on this one. As a matter of fact, I'm in the mood for some Mangement Sim tonight...might hit some Sim City 4 later on then.
 
One of the most under-rated series of games in the last decade in my opinion. Glad to see them filling a need where Sim City 4 failed.

my sentiments exactly, Cities XL just doesn't cut it. Anno 1404 was an amazing game at release and still is.
 
I got a good look at Anno 2070 during Gamescom, and as a fan of this genre, I'm rather excited for this one :D
 
The only thing that bothers me is the setting, the historical nature of the previous games appealed to me.
Now, set in the future, im having doubts about it.
Actually, let me download the demo and see first :P

Well the Eco/Industrial theme could make up for historical value.
 
I don't see why branching into a futuristic setting is bad at all. It opens up a lot of interesting sci-fi type options. It's also near future, a look at how mankind deals with the challenges of industrialisation versus eco-friendly. I think it's a pretty cool setting.

It also doesn't stop them making more historically based Anno titles in future. The developers may learn some things from this one (and its inevitable expansion pack) and use that in a great new historically based Anno title.
 
Just finished downloading the demo, will test it just now.

I didnt enjoy any of the strategy games that went the futuristic route, it's just something about the historical setting that i enjoy.

I think the reason is that there's too much fiction involved in a futuristic setting as opposed to fact involved in a historical setting.

Oh goody, I'll set this to download tonight. Loved 1404 and this looks like it'll be a lot of fun. Glad they've released a demo before release (makes a nice change).
 
I don't know, the futuristic setting should allow them to craft a pretty interesting story.


Does anyone know if this will come with ubicrap DRM?
 
Played the first mission, its actually not bad, they seem to have done their homework.

BTW: Do you have noticed the sum of the dates is always nine? anno 1602, anno 1503, anno 1701, anno 1404 and now anno 2070! 1+6+0+2=9. 1+5+0+3=9. 1+4+0+4=9 and 2+0+7+0=9. Maybe some world-wide conspiracy is going on here ?!? xD
