Anonymous claims responsibility for “sophisticated” Facebook virus

Mmmm I think the way they are going about this is kind of whack..a little over the edge but I agree with what they are saying.
Recently I read through a couple of things on the net, and only then I noticed that EA/Dice reserves the right to sell you're information to any 3rd party companies...now im sorry but that is fucked up, same goes for DEfacebook, any form of social networking site reserves the right to dig into you're life, sell you're information, keep all you're history even if you deleted it, the list goes on and on. <--- Like? xD

Anyway whatever I stopped using failbook years ago.

Meh this is stupid. In general I support what Anonymous is trying to do but some things like this are just not thought out and run by idiots because there is no real leadership within Anonymous.

They are supposed to be protecting the people. They want to protect us from Facebook who stores too much private information and has too much potential control over us with all that information. Well the solution isn't then to HURT the people they claim to want to protect by giving them viruses.

This. If a village is being attacked by a dragon, don't unleash werewolves on them in an attempt to kill it.

Sadly, my ability to research properly is severely diminished today by my connection barely being able to open any webpage within 5 minutes...
But I'ma do what I do best: Assume and spew crap anyway!

I would assume that this Fawkes virus is actually a botnet intruder. Most likely it will have low to none value in the intrusive nature. Anonops most likely are expanding their botnet by this virus, clamping in on those millions of facebook users as more power to their distributed attack framework.

That being said... I still agree to some degree, Graal.
Using without asking is as good stealing, or in this case B&E.

C'mon Anonymous! Two wrongs don't make a right!

smashing your friends Xbox to spite those people at Microsoft. it seems a little self serving as well, A way to get a bigger attack network

Actually that is a idea that would work.
On the FB thing , the idea is to get people to notice and this they only do once directly affected , the only way to stop a system sadly is to stop the system. I think its a rash approach , but not one that has not been taught trough. We have a group that for all intents is highly skilled , and have some direction to assume that this reaction was not accounted for is naive. The question we should be asking is what did they expect to happen ?
Did they want to shut FB down? or just get the privacy laws amended ? or even may be get a job there ? who know's.
The expected result will tell you the why , then you can decide if you agree or not .
