Another BT Games complaint thread...

Honestly, I wonder how they managed to become such a popular business when they have absolutely no idea what's happening with their orders.

I ordered the Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel edition ages ago, when it was first listed on their site, this is when it was still (according to them) called the "Special Edition" and no price was attached.

I e-mailed them to confirm that this was the Balls of Steel edition and was told (and I quote):
Hi there.

They are both that same thing, I have taken the special edition off the site.

Sorry for the inconvenience

I then asked whether or not my order would be updated to the Balls of Steel edition (so that there are no hassles come release day) and was told:
If you have an order for the special edition it will automatically be updated.

Bearing in mind, firstly, that there is no "if" involved here--it WAS ordered and this correspondence reflected the order number in the e-mail subject.

Six days ago I sent an e-mail to them:
Good day,

I was wondering whether or not a price has been affixed for Duke Nukem: Balls of Steel Edition (order 10546***) and whether or not I could pay for it in the meantime?

Thanks, as always.

No reply. So yesterday I sent the same e-mail (yes, again). I finally received a response:
Hi there

I have resent you a order confirmation regarding your query. You can pay a large deposit or full payment to secure your order due to limited stock of the item. Thank you and enjoy the rest of your day.

Firstly, I pre-ordered on the very day that they first listed it, I didn't have the opportunity to pay for it in advance because there was no price. I would never even have GOTTEN a price if I didn't keep nagging. Secondly, if I had pre-ordered it, that means I pre-ordered it, ergo I get first dibs, no? Especially since the agreement was payment in-store (I generally pay earlier regardless).

As his e-mail states, I received the confirmation for R575 and paid for it; I ordered and paid for my Fable 3 order.

It's 14:23 now, as I write this, and I still haven't received confirmation of payment for either order.

Maybe this is just a small issue, but I've had it with BT. If it weren't for the fact that collecting from them is just a hop in the car away I would go back to ordering from Take2.

How can these people do business in such a lax and inefficient manner? At which point did it become the customer's responsibility to make sure the business doesn't fuck up his order?

I'm honestly getting so sick of them :/

So I was not crazy saying that it's shitty to order something just to be told it's "out of stock" or something. I've warned.

I never doubted you--why do you think I nagged them to be sure?

Their way of doing business is ridiculous.

So, again, I get to wait, twiddle thumbs and hope that they didn't screw something else up. I don't trust these people one bit any more

Can't disagree there, it's horrible. After being told go stuff yourself with my witcher 2 ce order- I went with take2 and gog. At least those two are a lot better.

Especially with my mk9 order, sms: come pick up, got there and was informed it's not there yet. So from now on when ever I deal with them I call first and doubly sure they know wtf is cooking.

Then don't get me started on that lame site...

/stops complaining well for now any ways.

*nod* And please, you're welcome to keep complaining so go nuts :)

All I know is that all Hell will break loose if they screw up these orders

You getting Balls of Steel, by the way?

Lol, Still contemplating. Maybe I should just a test to see if retailer X can deliver better than bt ;)

I don't doubt it.

Well, rumour has it that we (First Access Club) should have the demo on or around the 15th. Quite excited. I whipped out my GOG Duke3D, installed the hi-res pack and have been reliving my youth :p Looking forward to it big time :3

lol, there must be some cosmic ying/yang thing goign on cause I've never had issues with BT Games. Maybe I'm leaching the luck away from you. :p

I know email has it's place, but wouldn't a good old bollocking over the phone had a better effect?

You must be the only person left who hasn't had some issue with them then :p Your days are numbered, my friend :)

If I had given them a good old bollocking over the phone, I wouldn't have e-mails to which to refer them when they change their tune ;) And no evidence with which to protect my purchases.

Do you pre-order online mate? Because I would always have a problem if I pre-ordered in-store, but since I've been pre-ordering online I've never had a problem since!

Nope I haven't had any issues with them either... ;)

A phone call can be followed up with an email, and you may have received more immediate attention... "whistling:

Pre-order many collector's editions from them then? Necuno has had worse issues than I have and I can almost guarantee you that they stem from the same problems on their end, not ours.

Once again, I don't see why it should be my prerogative to cater to their inadequacies? Firstly, I placed the pre-order, then I had to request that they update the order? This is in any way justifiable?

And had I waited and never received an update, that would be excusable because I didn't make a phone call? I don't understand how/why you're defending them.

I've never used the online BT Games shop. Besides, why buy from them when you can buy from Zaps? :) I get my 360 games from Zaps and pc games from Steam. Well in most cases. I'm also trying to support the MyGaming shop which I think we should all do. As soon as Tinny gets the game that I want to pre-order.

Sucks about your ordeal though Ly. :(

No, no--it'll only really "suck" once they screw up and I don't get my games. For now I hope I've at least nipped a problem before it could become anything serious.

As for the MyGaming shop, I'd love to support them but R70 for delivery is a bit steep considering the free delivery competition. If not for that, I would happily :o

I've also never used Zaps but think I'll give them a look next time. Basically all my pre-orders (Fable 3, The Witcher 2 CE, Deus Ex:HR AE, Dungeon Siege 3 LE and Duke Nukem Forever BoS) are paid for. If my orders get screwed up, it's BT's fault, no-one else's.

Thanks though, Solitude :3

Ly, come on, just because I haven't had issues with them doesn't mean I'm not sympathetic to you.....dial down the aggression a notch please.

Stop putting words in my mouth - I am not defending them, merely offering you an alternative to sort out your problem..

Also, every single time (yes, every SINGLE time) I've fetched my games from BT's store in George so far, I've had to wait no less than 10 minutes for the guys there to confirm that the order I'm there to collect has been paid for, regardless of a huge "PAID" sticker on it, because the system doesn't reflect it. And I'm not blaming them at all--they're fantastic and always happy to help and apologetic about it, the problem is with that fucking website/database and the people who handle it.

Unfortunately BT provides the most pre-order titles, zaps does little in comparison and mygamingshop has yet to up the game. As I've said before; we need a good solid pre-ordering system, but got lole'd at. Seriously wtf do I now know.

I'm not being aggressive >.>

Unless I've got some passive-aggression thing going, but no :p

My point is that I've ordered a bunch of things from them over the last year and basically every single time I've had an issue with them (usually when collecting), this isn't the first time I've had to make sure that they're aware of what's going on with my orders.

Stop putting words in my mouth - I am not defending them, merely offering you an alternative to sort out your problem..

A problem which shouldn't ever have occurred in the first place, repeated problems that should've been resolved, oh, I dunno.. a year ago?

The only time I would phone them is if e-mail correspondence no longer works otherwise I have no proof of their promises and assurances and nothing to refer them back to. Should I phone them, it's because they HAVE screwed up; not because they're verging on it.
