currently:
Sandboxie to browse within (a lot more secure than any spyware/worm protection)
Microsoft Security Essentials.

before sandboxie:
used MBAM with MSE

Comodo has a sandbox feature. Just puttin' it out there "whistling:
and ?

Sounds like that Comodo is one fix for all which normally is bloat and fail, besides I only need the actual box part and sanboxies does that.

Win7 already includes VM, so no need for Comodo then is there ;)

To Each His Own :)

I guess it is a "one fix for all" type thing. It's an AV and firewall together with Defence+ and Sandboxing. I probably don't need mbam but i use it anyway in case Comodo misses something.

How is MSE on your system resources?

I use ESET nothing gets past it, and its light on system resources, plus low false positives. Used to use AVG but it really when down after AVG 8

I highly recommend Malwarebytes as been mentioned before. Used it to get rid of a virus that my sister-in-law had on her netbook. AVG seems OK from a freebie point of view, but I'm not sure it catches anything. Lavasoft's Adaware is also very neat at picking up the spyware and ad softwares that are embedded in the system.

I use Avast and Malwarebytes.

Had an issue sometime back with Nod32, can't remember what exactly. I remember it wouldn't let me do something and it pissed me off.

AVG has caught some stuff for me in the past, never missed anything. Any virus checker is only as good as it's last update and AVG free doesn't include a malware checker. Spybot S&D has never missed the malware part.

I'm using ESET NOD32 and it works lekker for me.
If your new PC comes with Norton, don't install it, get something decent rather. I'm not a fan of Norton

Microsoft Security Essentials at home - AVG still runs on my laptop but only because I cba to uninstall it ... but it hogs system resources, especially when scanning.

We're running K7 at the office - might not sound familiar, but it's only recently been making a name for itself in the West (it's popular in SE Asia and Japan) - unfortunately it doesn't have a free version, only a 30-day trial. Might be worth a gander if you don't mind paying for your protection - http://www.k7computing.co.za/
