The Legendary Troll Hunter
I bought Black with my 3DS and its the first one I've played since Gold way back when. I know TheAvenged plays it also and was wondering if there are any other Trainers out there.
Well I don't play it on a regular basis. Except for Crystal (which I didn't even make it Kanto with because of how insanely difficult the elite 4 were) these are the editions that I've completed (by completed I mean caught all of the 'catchable' legendaries except for Entei and Raikou)
Generation I: Yellow & Red
Generation II: Silver & Crystal
Generation III: Sapphire & LeafGreen
Generation IV: SoulSilver
I started Pokemon Black from (Generation V) a few months ago, but abandoned it after beating about 2 gym leaders. Got incredibly annoyed with all of the foreign (and absurd looking and named Pokemon).
That being said I'm not quite sure myself why I've completed Sapphire and not Black. Perhaps because there were still a great number of Pokemon I recognized from Johto and Kanto? In any case, I might attempt it again after the end of this semester.
List of all the main-series Pokemon games and their generation can be found at Bulpapedia
My friend and I frequently play Pokemon Black (His game) and White (my game) to this day, Since we both have managed to finish the game's story we play the 2v2 Multi-Train battle! (It's 2v2 Using local WiFi! Which is really awesome)
It's tough but it's really showing how the games longevity and re-playability is truly one of the better features of the newer Pokemon games!
Though Pokemon games in general may seem like a bland game following the philosophy of " Higher levels always beats All Pokemon " type of game with it's never ending grinding. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Pokemon Black and White show extensive amounts of balancing on various levels!
For instance in the Nimbasa train station where train battles occur, there are a set of rules to keep the game balanced and difficult and rewarding for smart Pokemon trainers.
Such that a trainer will have to go through multiple random trainers that all have pokemon on the same if not higher level then they are, introducing the amount of strategies that a trainer will need to employ to beat and win the train challenges, all this shows that Pokemon is an extensively strategic game for those looking for a challenge if trainers don't want to reach the maximum level for a Pokemon or find all Pokemon.
Online Pokemon battles are also very intense, balanced and enjoyable that is to say that it's fairly competitive!
Also their other online features like their Pokemon dream world (Playing a flash game on Pokemon's website to import online Pokemon into your DS) also helps people stay active in the Pokemon game.
Needless to say My friend and I are fond our Pokemon games and find them incredibly fun and well worth their purchases.
That and if you did not know, you can find more of the original 150 Pokemon in the wild once you beat the main story in Pokemon black and white (Which I would say is when the game actually starts getting interesting). So keep pushing till you get there!
Oh and I feel like there needs to be some kind of local get together for people who play Pokemon on the Ds's (For trading ,White Forest/Black city'ing, and local competitions!)
TL;DR : Pokemon black and white are great games with great amounts re-playability, a fairly active competitive scene (online at least), and there should be some kind of local Pokemon event in this country!
I want to start playing pokemon again (last one was silver on my Gameboy) but the games are just so damn expensive. I'd think that after 3 years there would be some sort of a price cut.

Clint Eastwood Disapproves.
I saw Pokemon White at BT Games for lik R129 or something.... soooooo tempted. That and MGS 3D for 229 or whatever the price was. damn.... must.... resist....
i dunno I think id rather get MGS Snake Eater on the PS3 with the MGS HD collection than on the DS.
Yeah, I have done it like that. But I must say that the environment of Snake Eater looks amazing on the 3DS.
Rofl, I love my Vita. I wish they could make pokemon games for other systems.
And I've made the decision to own all consoles from 2000.
Yeah but what about the controls?
Why would Nintendo who created and owns the Pokemon ip share it with other systems?
I tried the Vita out once and it failed to grasp me and the game for it was just Meh. At least the DS has more than 5 titles I want to play.
