Anyone able to repair a graphics card? HD6990 not working

Hello

I have an AMD HD6990 graphics card that, when moving house, somehow developed a crack down the side of the case. The card was fine for a while, and then every now and then there was no picture when booting. Often after resetting the picture would then appear and the PC would run fine for weeks on end. The no picture problem began to occur more frequently and is now all that happens. I suspect this is a really simple issue like a contact not being made in the card. The card was expensive, so before I replace it, I want to look into perhaps getting it repaired.

Is there anyone in SA who is perhaps able to do so? Unfortunately the physical damage invalidates the warranty. When I swap in another graphics card the PC is fine.

I suspect that this is not going to be fixable, I'm sorry man that's an expensive thing to break on you.
 
Hmmm up to you man. May be worth a shot... if it's a dry joint or something. I have had "dry solder joints" driving me crazy in the past on on a couple of things (I work in the electronic field), last of which was one of my car amps. Re-flowed the board and problem solved.
But don't listen to me! You could always screw it up further :)
 
@OP, is the crack along the side of fan case?
Take a picture of the damage so that we can see if the board itself is damaged.
 
I didn't even know people still fixed complicated electronics like graphics cards. nowadays it is throw away and replace.
