Anyone else's steam suddenly in French?

Great article by Kotaku.

I still can't believe that they haven't even apologised.

Thanx, I was wondering why I had problems with my trading email from my second account, was trying to send Winter cards to my main account but never got the mail. (Second account registered to my outlook email address)

Oh well guess I can kiss those potential card sales goodbuy as my TV account can not sell on the market.

I fully agree with Biscuit. Steam is turning into something I am slowly starting to dislike a more and more. Sure I have crapton of games from them and thankful to the end of time for it, but, several things irked me, esp this year, their business model of taking so much from sellers, (not just that Skyrim mod store) ignoring HL3 (HL pushed them off to what they are and to just ignore it after HL2 EP2, imho, thats just wrong) their security of late...

I am not unthankful for what they have done, I realize in purchasing games from their site, I assisted them in making money of which the dev got less from. I've started to buy keys directly from a dev if I can rather than on STEAM.

What do you mean by "taking so much from sellers?" I haven't watched the video, but Valve have always taken a 30% cut of anything sold on their store or marketplace. 30% is the industry standard, even GOG takes 30%. The only place that doesn't is the Humble Widgets/Store. They only take 15% for themselves, and 10% for charity.

With regards to HL3, in their defence, Valve have worked on something Half Life related for a decade, but their projects have either been scrapped or restarted numerous times. At one point, Arkane Studios was even working on Episode 4. So although Valve haven't released anything new regarding Half-Life, they have definitely been working on something. If Valve didn't have unlimited funds thanks to Steam, we would have seen a new Half-Life game ages ago.

The_Imp_ZA Honestly didnt know GOG did it the same percentage, I dont know, I just think devs get too little, even if all digital publishers ask the same for rights, perhaps with it being an online distribution channel, they sell more than at a brick and mortar store. I just think, alot of off people these days wait for a sale, where the dev gets even less. I guess that would be a good topic, how has the last couple of years big sales influenced the money devs get. I wish I could get some stats, like how much on average a dev gets when a game is released and then as the game gets older and on more sale lists.

As for HL3, HL1 was released 1998, HL2 in 2004, EP 1 in 2006 and EP 2 in 2007...it just feels like that have abandoned the series, esp with EP2 ending on such an emotional cliff hanger. They have a loyal (almost HL cult) following, treat the guys with some respect. I know, the game is bought without any promises or expectations.

Besides STEAM being a sales platform, they have atleast given us good features like game streaming, added a nice community/friend support and the recent good looking hardware, the STEAM controller and Link.

Of course, I'll eat my hat and words should they announce a new HL and pre-order it.

Interestingly i got 2 password reset requests yesterday. Both of them look legit, except its been sent to the previous email I used on my steam account and doesn't have my full name on it. Only my first name which is displayed on my Steam profile. My steam profile is only visible to friends. So which one of you is currently in the Ukraine and trying to log into my account?
