Anyone know of a shop in Pretoria that sells old(ish) PC games?

I am on a mission to try and find Fallout 3 GOTY Edition for PC, but it would seem I have waited too long. Been to quite alot of shops and malls to look for it, but have been unable to find it so far (only found for the PS3, no PC versions).

Any advice as to which shop in Pretoria may have Fallout 3 GOTY?

Can't find it other than on steam and import it all. Check out cna they sometimes hold old games or Musica.

I prefer the physical retail versions of games. If I really have no other choice, I'll eventually buy it off Steam. Thanks, CNA and and Musica are usually part of my stops when I search for games.

Why not just buy it off Steam?

I'm genuinely curious what you have against using Steam/digital distribution platforms, if you don't mind my asking?

The only time I buy retail any more is when I buy collectors' editions and that's for the goodies included. I don't see the point of buying standard retail games any longer--an optical disc, undoubtedly drowning in draconian DRM, that is necessary (and wears) every time you want to play, and having to manually update/patch your games? No convenience in that.

I'd also obviously argue that Steam has excellent community features, fantastic sales, near-perfect offline functionality and completely unobtrusive DRM.

I mean, sure, I get that it could simply be a preference for whatever reason... It's just difficult to see it as anything other than inconveniencing yourself :(

Oh, and Greeman Gaming currently has a sale on it for Steam: http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/se/en/pc/games/rpgs/fallout-3-game-year-edition/

£4.94

And could probably be reduced even further if you find a coupon key lying around somewhere like their Twitter feed.

Lycanthrope surely by adding a non steam game (retail boxed variant) you can use it as though it was a steam purchased game, thus not needing the disc in to play? I haven't tried it yet so I might be mistaken.

Only if it's a Steamworks game. Fallout 3 was released with the abomination that is Games for Windows LIVE.

If the game doesn't use Steam as its DRM then its codes aren't valid on Steam.

And Steam is an infinitely more preferable form of DRM than Tages, SecuRom or the countless other invasive horrors that plagued us in the past (and a number of games these days still).

Steam = the lesser evil, so much so that it's actually a pleasure to use :p

I agree with all Lycanthrope said. I used to hate Steam... Until I started using it. Since then I refuse to buy games any other way.

I still hate all digital services, I just tolerate them because they are convenient, but with the death of gfwl I lost 3 games due to the fact that the devs are either defunct and can't patch it out or won't.

so while it's "nice" the downsides are very crap. their servers go down or they fold, you lose all the games

Vexarus, if you act quickly you can get Fallout 3 GOTY on GMG much cheaper than on Steam, because it's on sale right now. It's going to be hard to find it in stores now. The last time I saw it was 2012/2013, when I bought it.
