Whether you liked or hated his movies, it’s hard to deny that Neill Blomkamp has a unique style that is applied to whatever he works on. After hitting the big time with District 9, Blomkamp followed that effort up with Elysium, and then Chappie which is out later this year. So what’s next for Blomkamp? At one point, he teased making an Alien movie, before shrugging off such a product. Well it looks like a deal is in place, because Blomkamp will indeed be helming a brand new film set in that horrific universe.
On Instagram, Blomkamp posted some classic H.R. Giger Alien artwork and commented “Um… So I think it’s officially my next film.†According to Variety, Blomkamp has come to an arrangement with 20th Century Fox, to direct a movie that will be completely seperate from Ridley Scott’s Prometheus prequel, which is also getting a sequel.

And it’s going to be a damn good fit. Blomkamp still teased some Alien concept art that he had done last year, just for the hell of it. And its art which looked downright spooky, as it featured Sigourney Weaver dressed up like a Space Jockey, alongside a heavily-scarred Michael Biehn as space marine Hicks. Blomkamp made waves with his idea for refugee aliens in District 9, but seeing those ideas applied to the Alien franchise?
I can’t bloody wait to see what he has in store.

I hope he does a good job, a bit worried about it after watching the trailers for Chappy. . . .
