Apple Gaming?

If the pricing is in line with Microsoft and Sony I would probably get one. I am excited to see what their hardware would look like if it does happen.

TBH even if apple did even start getting a lot more PC game support I would still probably not buy their product. iOs is waaaay to restrictive for me. It feels like owning something but not being able to do what I want with it. I imagine thats what its like to own a console. I want to be free to mod the shit out of what I own. but thats just me.
Which you can do with Apple desktop and laptop computers.

not actually
They run a different OS by default.

Since pretty much the beginning Apple Computers =/= Personal Computers, generally recognized that A PC runs windows or some form or linux/unix, and for a long time OS# could only run on an Apple Built Computer because of its unique CPU.

Console.....console....what would another name for a hand-held gaming device be? A hand-held console?
Well according to Merrian-Webster's dictionary a console is"
an electronic system that connects to a display (as a television set) and is used primarily to play video games

The second part of the definition obviously needs to be updated, as both SONY and Microsoft's most recent efforts allow their users to view images, listen to music, watch movies and use certain online services too. I think we could say that a console is
an electronic system that connects to a display (either integrated or discrete) and contains hardware capable of playing games as well as allowing the user to enjoy multimedia content and online services. How the line has blurred - or perhaps my definition is too loose [contrived even?], but I don't think everyone will disagree that we ate not seeing some convergence of function in electronic devices....the point I am trying to lead up to [in a convoluted way] is that it might be argued that Apple has in the past few years already released consoles, albeit compact, handheld ones in the form of the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. Furthermore, many of the games available [Dead Space for 99 US c, anyone?] are very reasonably priced compared to what is available for other gaming-capable hand-held electronic devices [or hand-held "consoles" if I am going to be controversial]

That was then, this is now.

Run osx on a PC ;)

Apple are a big hype and marketing machine. if they were to produce a console it would be lapped up like other overpriced apple products.

I don't know... They ridiculously overprice their computers. Microsoft's systems do exactly what the Macs do. PLUS they play games.
I wouldn't buy an Apple desktop, but I'm very impressed with the engineering of the Macbook Pro. People tend to compare the specs of PC vs Apple, but what makes Apple products so great is actually the engineering behind it. And that's what makes Apple expensive.

IMO, the multi-touch touchpad alone is worth the extra dosh for a MBP, its so slick and makes one wonder why not all touch pads are like that. Then there is the (geniune) 8 hours battery life to consider (while using OSx). And also other little details, like the power chord; Its thin, small and magnetised, so if someone does trip on the cable, its pops out, without bringing your laptop to the floor or damaging the port.

As for OSX, it compares to Win7 (it also has its own quirks), but it does what an OS needs to.

I used to think Apples were overpriced, but since using one (and then buying one), the price makes perfect sense. For work, the MBP is amazing, but for gaming, I'll stick to my good ol PC Desktop.

Since being accepted for my Game Design Course I am also in the Market for a new PC, specifically Laptop (for a number of reasons), and will be getting a 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 i7 with the Radeon 5770 1GB GPU early in the new year. The only thing, laptop wise, more powerful is a custom Alienware Laptop and they are far from Mobile.

This was the apple console

it was terrible. Angry video game nerd did a thing on it.

There are plenty more powerful. Just look around.

I had a decent, indepth, google. While I agree there are more powerful few that come close to the Pro im looking at in terms of meeting my needs. The XPS 15z is a good alternative but its battery lasts about half as long as the Pros and I will be upgrading it again in a 2 years. Spoke to a guy who works for Horizon Studios and his last Mac lasted him 7 years and could still run the newest Mac OS. How many 7 year old Laptops can run windows 7? I bought my mid-range Dell just under 2 years ago for work and it is coming to the point now where even the slightest multi-tasking (I am a power users often running Maya, Photoshop and Google SketchUP &/or Unity either together or in different combinations.) causes it to come to a dead stop. Cant even run LOTRO or Rift without turning the visuals off. All my research points to the 15" Macbook Pro 2.2ghz i7 (late-2011 upadate) is the best laptop to buy for performance and that suits my needs. Also since I want to start developing small iOS games I need a mac anyways. So why not get the best?

But If you can provide me with links to these more powerful laptops I will be more that happy to have a look. I admit to not knowing everything.

Hmm.... technology ages. Just because it can run the latest osx doesnt mean much. I can run linux on very few resources.

Dell make some strong laptops and hp.

I like osx and linux as well as windows. Each has something i like using. I also like the look and _mostly_ good components inside an apple. They make an all round good package... just double the price of anything else of the same spec.

I would rather get a dell precision and a Spectra view screen for CAD, before even thinking about a mbp.

Most higher end laptops do have multitouch actually, but it is either A) very simple or B) dissabled and you need to install hacked drivers.
I wonder what Apple's secret is to such a long battery life though :/

Underpowered machines and OSX is written better than windoze -.-

Well seeing as apple has 50 million users playing games on their mobile devices they sure will give the big boys a good run for their money. If you were only to compare that to microsoft's 30 million users on its xbl system and you have some interesting numbers to work with.

True... but it is just because users already have the platform for other things... doubt they woukd all go out and buy an iConsole
