Are there any PSP owners out there?

I was one of 'em who bought the PSP way back in 2006 on launch date. Since then, there's only been about 3 or 4 must play games released each year. And not surprisingly, most of those games were from Sony in-house studios. Unfortunately it seems as though the PSP never really garnered the full attention of developers who rushed out shoddy ports to the console just for the sake of a multi-platform release. Due to lack of sufficient innovative and quality titles I fear that these are the last days of this console.
Sure, you can blame the single analog stick, but then, there's been titles that have successfully overcome this challenge (again, I can think of Sony developed ones). There's also the often cited issue of piracy on the console that hurts sales. But then, every console, to date has been hacked in some form of the other. This has been challenged with updates or support services on the bigger consoles to a level not rivalled for the PSP. Why has it been forsaken?
The PSP, once touted as a portable PS2, unfortunately never achieved the acclaim of its bigger brother. All else I can say, amen my beloved PSP and I hope that your successor does not suffer your fate.
What say your thoughts?

I owned quite a few kept on selling them, i had the 1000, 2000, 3000 and PSPgo. I pesonally liked the go. I am not sure what this thread is about exactly. But from what i gathered in your post, is that there was a lack of games i agree in some way. There were tons of games it just they were all short and really not worth the time of playing... PSP was mainly to pass time not for main stream gaming. It was a novelty item without a doubt, but made little sense to own one past when the novelty wore off.

As for the PSP2 looks promising, i hope it doesnt suffer the same problems its older brother faces, but Sony is promising HD graphics in a Handheld, which is completely possible these days with what is being developed. I hope the PSP 2 is a success though i wanted it to come out long ago already, there were to many technical refreshes for the current model. And i find ditching the disc drive a plus somewhat, though getting the games off the PSN network takes some time here in SA.

Bes of luck PSP2...

Not sure if my post is on topic or not. As the title of this thread and content is abigious at best.

Still got my Ceramic White PSP1000. Got it on launch (imported from Japan).

I will be playing God of War Ghost of Sparta this week.

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep was released a couple of months ago as well and the new Parasite Eve title (The Third Birthday) will also be out within the next 6 months or so.

So there's definitely some life left in the console if you really go and look for it.

My PSP kept me busy for quite a while. I'm sitting on 99.9% completion with Tiger Woods 07. :D But the last year or so it's been collecting dust. I'll wait and see what the PSP2 looks like, HD graphics on a hand held would be cool. I'd just like to be able to play my current PSP games on it. Which you can't on the PSPGo.

There have been some great games for the PSP the last metal Gear Peace Walker for one was awesome and still showed the PSP had potential that was unfortunately the last game I played on my PSP

Sad thing is the PSP2 is following PSPGo's suite, there is no UMD drive which means no PSP Games that are on disc will work... I do think they should offer you a chance to swap out your umd for digital copies. Would be a good incentive.

if I had a PSP would hack it so I could play PS1, NES, GBA and other older console games on it :D

I've had a PSP since launch and a year or so go got the PSP 3000 as an insurance payout, I've actually found the problem with the PSP is not short games but overly long ones for a portable device, I'm looking at the 3D GTA series, Daxter, Medievil etc... These games were about 4 hours longer then they should have been. God of War got it smack on I think with roughly 5 to 6 hours of play and it worked wonders on the PSP. I still jam regularly on it and it keeps me amused.

I recently started using it again after my iPod died as an MP3 player, decided to update the software and discovered the wonderful world of PSN.

I recently downloaded the 2 Odyssey games and Metal Gear Solid. The most fun I've had with this thing since I got Lemmings back in 2005! There are some nice titles that I missed out on which I plan to download some time this week. Namely; LocoRoco, Pursuit Force and a few others I can't remember right now.
