If people actually bothered to do research they could take note that a lot of the negative reviews are from players that bought the game and then refunded it immediately so they could give it a negative review. In fact I've seen posts on other forums where ARK haters are trying to get other people to give the game negative feedback. All this because they released a paid for DLC during early access.
I don't see a problem with the actual content and the price being charged. I do however understand some of the backlash and why some people are upset about it. The DLC does bring cross ARK travel which is definitely something that would need testing, and seeing as the game is in Alpha it's a good idea to test this. However they never said as much, in fact they've been rather quiet about it.
This whole mess could have been avoided if they bothered opening their mouths before the DLC released, giving players valid reasons for the release and explaining why it needed to be done now. Whether it be a money related thing or testing or a combination of both.
At the end of the day, it's still a fantastic game and the paid for DLC is awesome, I've been bored of ARK for a long time now and the DLC made the game fresh again, in fact I bought 4 copies of the DLC (gf and friends).
